Objective: In order to propose the reasonable nursing time for administering with huangyu porridge, we administered the gastric cancer patients accepting chemotherapy with medicinal diet-huangyu porridge and observed the effects of different administering time to the adverse reaction of gastrointestinal tract and the changes with their bodies.Methods: 107 gastric cancer patients accepting chemotherapy were randomly divided into three groups.①the control group(n=33), the patients were not administered with huangyu porridge.②Group 1 (n=39), huangyu porridge was taken on empty stomach for a week before accepting chemotherapy, which consecutively lasted 21 days.③Group 2 (n=35), huangyu porridge was taken aftermeals for a week before accepting chemotherapy, which consecutively lasted 21 days.We estimated the weight and the body station before the experiment, observed the extent of nausea and vomit during the experiment when thepatients were treated with chemotherapy and then estimated the weight and the body station again after receiving chemotherapy.Results: Compared to the control group, there was less nausea and vomit with the patients in Group 1 and Group 2 (P<0.05); compared to Group 2 and the control group, there was the lest nausea and vomit in Group 1 and the weight and the body station were also improved best (P<0.05).Conclusion: The gastric cancer patients accepting chemotherapy could markedly improve the nausea and vomit by taking huangyu porridge. The effect that huangyu porridge was taken on empty stomach was better than that was taken aftermeals. It was very important to take the medicinal diet on empty stomach for the gastric cancer patients to raise the quality of life, because the adverse reaction of gastrointestinal tract could be alleviated and the body station could be improved.
