To evaluatethe effect of hypoxia-inducible factor-1a overexpression on the invasive andmetastatic potency of clear cell carcinoma of kidney. Methods: Expression of HIF-1a,E-cad and MMP-2 in 30 clear cellcarcinoma of kidney tissue and 8 normal renal tissue (NRT) samples wereanalyzed by immunohistochemistry stainting.Result: The level of positive HIF-1a immunostaining in clear cellcarcinoma of kidney is higher than in NRT(P<0.05).The level of positiveE-cad immunostaining in clear cell carcinoma of kidney is lower than inNRT(P<0.05). The level of positive MMP-2 immunostaining in clear cellcarcinoma of kidney is higher than in NRT(P<0.05).We could find theexpression of HIF-1a has relation with the expression of E-cad in clear cellcarcinoma of kidney(P<0.05).We could find the expression of HIF-1a hasrelation with the expression of MMP-2 in clear cell carcinoma of kidney(P<0.05).Conclusions: The expression of E-cad and MMP-2 playing anestablishing role in the invasion and metastasis, can be regulated by HIF-1a inhuman clear cell carcinoma of kidney.
