Objective: To determine the distributing character ofangiotensin-converting enzyme(ACE) gene insertion/deletion (I/D)polymorphism genotype and allele in Han and Korean population in Yanbiandistrict of China, and the relationship of carotid artery atherosclerosisand type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. Participants: Randomly select 395case in Yanbian district, including 103 Han and 92 Korea nationality peoplewith the normal controls group (normal glucose tolerant, NGT), 111 Han and89 Korean nationality patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM) group.Patients divided into three groups:①Han nationality of type 2diabetic and carotid atherosclerosis (IMT≥1.0 and/or from atheromatousplaque);②Han nationality of type 2 diabetic;③Korean nationality oftype 2 diabetec and carotid artery atherosclerosis (IMT≥1.0 and/or fromatheromatous plaque);④Korean nationality of type 2 diabetec. Methods:Assess the ACE I/D genotypes with polymerase chain reaction(PCR), diagnoscarotid atherosclerosis by B-ultrasonicimage. Statistical analysis withthe 13.0 SPSS statistics software package, express data with mean±SE;analyz the genetype frequency with X2 test; analyze the data withlogistic regression to explore the independent and dignificantriskfactors for carotid atherosclerosis in type 2 diabetic patients(p<0.05 were considered significant). Results: (1) The ACE I/D genotypeof Han population in Yanbian district composes with II(36.9%),ID34.0%),DD (29.1%),I/D (53.9/46.1%); The ACE I/D genotype of Koreanpopulation in Yanbian district compose with II(31.5%),ID(39.1%), DD(29.3%),I/D(52.2/47.8%),and no significant difference is found betweenthe two groups(P>0.05);(2) The I allele frequencies of T2DM patients is63.5% in Itan, 58.4% in Korean. There is no significant differences(P>0.05); (3) The DD and ID+DD genotype has no significant differences(15.9%vs 20.9%,54.5% vs 55.2%; P>0.05) between T2DM patients of Han populationwith carotid atherosclerosis and which without carotid atherosclerosis;(4) The DD and ID+DD genotype no significant differences(10.8% vs15.4%, 67.6% vs 69.2%; P>0.05) between T2DM patients of Korean populationwith carotid atherosclerosis and which without carotid atherosclerosis;(5) Logistic regression analysis shows that age affect the racialdifference in carotid atherosclerosis in T2DM patients(ORHan=1.044,ORKorean=1.050, P<0.05). Conclusion: The ACE I/D genotype of Nan populationin Yanbian district compose with II(36.9%),ID(34.0%),DD(29.1%),I/D(53.9/46.1%);The ACE I/D genotype of Korean population in Yanbiandistrict forms with II(31.5%),ID(39.1%),DD(29.3%),I/D(52.2/47.8%),and no significant difference is found between the two groups(P>0.05);There is no difference in frequencies distribution of ACE gene I/Dpolymorephism between Han with Korean Population in Yanbian area of China; The ACE genotype not relevance with carotid atherosclerosis and T2DMpatients in Hart and Korean Population in Yanbian area of China; The ageis a strong and independent risk factor for carotid atherosclerosis inHan and Korean Population in Yanbian area of China.
