Investigate To Reduce Complication On The Surgical Treatment For Calcaneus Fracture Involving Talocalcaneal Joint

Objective: The treatment of open reduction and internal fixation with titanium plateof type "Y" was applied calcaneus fracture involving talocalcaneal joint. Methods:Nineteen patients were performed treatment of lateral incision and internal fixationwith calcaneal titanium plate and implantation bone graft from June 2003 to June2005. According to Essex-Lopresti classification system, there were 17 cases of typeⅡand 5 cases of typeⅢ. The Bohler angle, the Gissane angle and length breadth ofcalcaneus were compared before and after operation. Results: The patients werefollowed up from 6 months to 24 months.All the patients were healed. The averagedata of Bohler angle was 26.38°after operation while 7.14°before operation.Conclusion: The treatment of open reduction and internal fixation with titanium plateof type "Y" is a kind of good method for calcaneus fracture involving talocalcanealjoint, and should follow the rule when the operation: (1) Woundless principle on theoperation. First period incision held up. It is important for early fracture capitulumheal. (2) It has great help on successful operation searching lateral osteal cortical.open and reduction. (3) Simple and resionable fixation benefit for the complicationreduction alter operation. The principle is important for the reduce complication onthe open reduction and internal fixation.
