Paulownia. fortunei (Seem.) Hemsl. is a ornamental plant, widely distribute in many parts of China. Its leaves, flowers, bark, root, wood have been used as traditional herb medicine for treatment of some diseases. There is no previous work on the chemical constituents of its flowers except essential oils. In this thesis we report the systematic studies on the flowers of P. fortunei, which were collected from Lanzhou City. 15 compounds were isolated from the ethanol extract of its flowers by means of column chromatography, Prep-TLC and recrystalization etc. The 11 structures of them were elucidated as steroids, flavonoids, organic acid esters and their glycosides etc. On the basis of spectroscopic methods along with comparision to authentic sample and literature. Then they were established as(1) diplacone (2) 3'-O-Methyldiplacone (3) mimulone (4) 3'-O-Methyldiplacol (5) apigeniri (6) luteolin (7)abscisic acid (8)1-acetoxy-3-hydroxypropan-2-yl 3-hydroxypentanoate (9)ursolic acid (10)β-sitosterol (11) daucosterol. All compounds were isolated from P.fortunei. for the first time. The result of this paper will provide chemical theoretical evidences for exploiting and utilizing plant resources and for studies of plant pharmacological research.
