Objective:This research plans to discriminate the syndrome patterns of traditionalchinese medicine(TCM) for the breast cancer patients, detect the express oftransmembrane glycoprotein(P-gp) and breast cancer resistenceprotein(BCRP)of the tumor, then analyses the corelation between syndromepatterns of TCM and P-gp BCRP, aiming to conclude the value of syndrome patternof TCM in apply in judging sensitivity of chemotherapy, then provid referencefor selection of chemotherapy. Methods:This research plans to discriminate the syndrome patterns of TCM for the breastcancer patients who visit in the Primary Affiliated Hospital of GuangzhouUniversity of TCM from October in 2005 to April in 2007 before they receiveany therapies. The syndrome patterns of TCM of breast cancer patients candiscriminate into four groups, including stagnation of liver-qi andcoagulation of phlegm, phlegm and blood coagulation, disharmony ofchong-ren, asthenia of zheng-qi and excess of xie-qi. Then taking the tissuesof the tumor by exairesis or puncture. Detecting the P-gp, BCRP by SPimmunohistochemical method. Then analysing the corelation between the syndromepatterns of TCM and P-gp BCRP.Results:1. In 89 chosen-patients, 41 shows the P-gp positive(41/89, 46.1%),includes10 in the group of stagnation of liver-qi and coagulation of phlegm (10/30,33.3%), 20 in the group of phlegm and blood coagulation (20/31, 64.5%),11in the group of disharmony of chong-ren (11/28, 39.3%).2. In 89 chosen-patients, 34 shows the BCRP positive(34/89, 38.2%),includes8 in the group of stagnation of liver-qi and coagulation of phlegm (8/30,26.7%),18 in the group of phlegm and blood coagulation (18/31, 58.1%),8in the group of disharmony of chong-ren (8/28, 28.6%). 3. Different groups have different results of P-gp and BCRP (p<0.05). Thegroup of phlegm and blood coagulation significantly higer than the groupof stagnation of liver-qi and the group of coagulation of phlegm and disharmonyof chong-ren (p<0.05). There is not significant difference between the groupof stagnation of liver-qi and coagulation of phlegm and disharmony of chong-re(p>0.05). The group of P-gp or BCRP positive or negative has no differentexpress in estrogen receptor(ER) and progesterone receptor(PR) and epidermalgrowth factor receptor (C-erbB-2)(p>0.05).Conclusion:The syndrome patterns of TCM of breast cancer has corelation with P-gp andBCRP. The group of phlegm and blood coagulation is significantly higer thanthe group of liver-qi stagnation and phlegm coagulation and the groupof disharmony of chong-ren. The results indicate that the group of phlegm andblood coagulation may be less sensitivity than the other two groups, andhave worse prognosis. The results of P-gp and BCRP have no relationship withER and PR and C-erbB-2.
