Objective: To compare the effects of remifentanil in various target plasmaconcentrations on hemodynamic and BIS response to tracheal intubation induced withsevoflurane. Methods:Fifty ASAⅠ-Ⅱpatients aged<65yr undergoing electivesurgery under general anesthesia were enrolled in this study. The patients wereunpremedicated. Anesthesia was induced with remifentanil given by TCI andsevoflurane inhalation simultaneously. The patients were randomized to receiveremifentanil at a fixed target plasma concentration of 0,2,4,6 or 8ng/ml(group R0,R2,R4,R6,R8).Sevoflurane was started at 3%.Trachea was intubated followingintravenous rocuronium when the BIS of patients was 65.Results:ET-sevof wasdecreased significantly from group R2 to R6 (P<0.05).MAP increased significantlyfor 2 rain after intubation in group R0 and R2.But MAP did not changed in groupR4 after intubation. Conclusion: remifentanil given by TCI simultaneously potentiatessevoflurane for induction of anesthesia.Sevoflurane(3%vol) in the presence ofplasma remifentanil concentration of 4 ng/ml can effectively attenuate the intubationresponse.
