Part I Comparison study between 16 slice CT angiography with subtraction (CTSA) and digital subtraction angiography (DSA) in the image quality of different vessels of cranial and neckPurpose To evaluate the image quality of 16 slice CT angiography(CTA) in displaying different vessels of cranial and neck.Materials and methods We randomly chose 76 patients with or probably with cranial or neck vascular diseases to have the 16 slice CT subtraction angiography examination. The parameter of the non-enhanced and enhanced CT data was uniformly controlled at equal. The subtraction process is done by Neuro-DSA software. And 30 patients'images were compared with digital subtraction angiography (DSA). The image quality was ranked good, acceptable and unsatisfactory. Results As the objective artery is intracranial internal carotid artery, anterior and posterior communicating artery , the close section of anterior, middle and posterior cerebral artery , vertebral artery and the basilar artery, we totally observed 900 sections of vessels. And the Image quality was rated good in 571(63.4%),acceptable in 301(33.4%). But the difference of the Image quality existed in the different section of the arteries. Conclusion As a non-invasive and quick method, 16 slice subtraction CT angiography provides high quality images in cranial-neck vascularities.Part II Comparison study between 16 slice CT angiography with subtraction (CTSA)and digital subtraction angiography (DSA) in detection diseases in the cranial-neck vascularitiesPurpose To evaluate the sensibility and the correctness of diagnosis of 16 slice CT subtraction angiography in finding cranial or neck vascular diseases, and to assess the value of clinical use of CTA subtraction.Materials and methods We randomly chose 30 patients with or probably with cranial or neck vascular diseases to have the 16 slice CT subtraction angiography examination. The parameter of the non-enhanced and enhanced CT data was uniformly controlled at equal. The subtraction process is done by Neuro-DSA software. And 30 patients'images were compared with digital subtraction angiography (DSA).Results CT subtraction angiography showed 30 pathological changes. Among them, 27 were confirmed by DSA. And 2 of 7 normal diagnoses were confirmed by DSA. The sensibility of 16 slice CT subtraction angiography is 84.4%, and specificity is 40%. The sensibility and specificity in diagnosing aneurysm are both 100%.Conclusion As a non-invasive and quick method, 16 slice subtraction CT angiography improves the diagnostic accuracy and therapy planning of intracranial aneurysms, which can be used as an primary method to screening cranial or neck vascular diseases.
