Uvaria microcarpa Champ. ex. Benth. is a member of Uvaria family of Annonaceac. It mainly distributes in provinces of Guangdong, Guangxi and Taiwan.The folk treats rheumatism, traumatic injury , pain in waist with its root, and its leaf uses in stopping detumescence. In recent years, because it has the anti-tumor efficacy to arouse the domestic and foreign scholars'widespread interest. To discover the new anti-tumor active constituents from the plant, in this paper, the pharmacology experiment of anti-tumor was done with the extracts of the stems and leaves of Uvaria microcarpa Champ. ex. Benth., and the result showed the extract of p.ether had good curative effect to tumor cell.The anti-tumor activity of the extracts ,got from the stems and leaves of Uvaria microcar- pa Champ. ex. Benth. by 95% EtOH, and isolated with p.ether, chloroform, EtOAc and n-BuOH, was done respectively. The result exhibited that the p.ether extract had the good effect. To obtain the effective compounds, the p.ether extract was isolated with the active track method, and it was estimated initially that the effective part had the flavanone. Many antitumor pharma- cology experiments were done with the extract of p.ether and its isolated parts, and the result showed they had certain inhibitory action to the tumor cell. The anti-S180 entity tumor experi- ment was done with the extract of p.ether, the result exhibited it had certain inhibitory action, too.The extracts of p.ether, chloroform and EtOAc were separated , respectively. The purity of products was checked by TLC and HPLC(MeOH and water were used as fluid phase). Four compounds were got from the extract of p.ether, separated by column chromatography of silica gel (p.ether and EtOAc were used as fluid phase). One compound was got from the extract of chloroform, separated by column chromatography of silica gel (p.ether and EtOAc were used as fluid phase). Four compounds were got from the extract of EtOAc, separated by column chromatography of silica gel (chloroform and MeOH were used as fluid phase). Eight compounds were yielded, and the constructions of seven compounds were identified by spectrum of IR, NMR and compared with the reference. In the obtained compounds, two compounds are olean-type triterpenoids, and they are 14-taraxeren-3-one (1) and taraxerol (2); four compounds are the lactams and they are aristolactamAâ…¡(5), uvarilactam(6), aristololactamAâ… a(7), 4,5-dioxodehydroasimilobine- (8); one compound is the benzoic acid (4).
