| PCBs (Polychlorinated biphenyls) have gained utmost attention as contaminants of threat to human health, due to their carcinogenicity, mutagenicity and teratogenicity, as well as persistence and bioaccumulation. Therefore, there have been many studies about the effects of PCBs on human health. To analyze the concentration of PCBs in human plasma is an effective method for evaluating the level of environmental contamination with PCBs in environment on human health. The paper relied on SPE (Solid Phase Extraction) technology and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS) to analyze PCBs in human plasma in several cities of China. Eventually we can understand the sourse and distribution of PCBs in the urban areas of China. This research will provide the scientific basis for us to fulfill international POPs Convention, and will provide the correlation research data for epidemiology and economic evaluations of residents' health. The research results can be used as reference for future PCBs contamination control strategies and the measures to eliminate their pollution and the correlation laws and regulations enacted.At present, to analyze the concentration of PCBs in human plasma in China is quite seldom. Therefore, the paper relied on SPE and GC/MS to analyze PCBs in human plasma in five cities of China. Simultaneously the isomer distribution has been analyzed, and the sources of organic chlorine pollutants are discussed as preliminary. The main conclusions are summarized as follows:(1) A new method for analysis of PCBs in human plasma was developed. The recoveries of PCBs from standard sample was 62-99%. The detection limit of PCBs was 0.6-1.5 pg/mL; The relative standard deviation (RSD) was 1.3-1.8%. This method meets the requirements of PCBs measurement in human plasma/serum which conform to international standards.(2) The concentration of PCBs in human plasma from 5 cities of China were tested. The average concentration of∑PCBs in human plasma from China is 953.0±659.0 pg/mL. The details are as follows:The average concentration of∑PCBs in plasma from Xiamen is 639.4±620.5 pg/ml;The average concentration of∑PCBs in plasma from Shanghai is 839.6±489.2 pg/ml;The average concentration of∑PCBs in plasma from Beijing is 34.4±690.3 pg/ml;The average concentration of∑PCBs in plasma from Guangzhou is 817.1±491.4 pg/m;The average concentration of∑PCBs in plasma from Zhongshan is 1734.3±558.9 pg/ml.(3) The concentration and isomers distribution of PCBs in human plasma have been analyzed. The sources of organic chlorine pollutants are discussed as preliminary.For total PCBs in human plasma samples of China, the concentration of Dichlorobiphenyls, Trichlorobiphenyls, Tetrachlorobiphenyls are more,which are 58.2 % in∑PCBs. Low chlorine PCBs is more in Beijing ,Shanghai Guangzhou and Zhongshan. High chlorine PCBs is primary in Xiamen, Pentachlorobiphenyls, Hexachlorobiphenyls and Heptachlorobiphenyls are 80.5% in total PCBs from xiamen. The reasons for differences from human plasma in several areas are discussed as elementary. |
