Comparison Of Different Treatments Of Women With Missed Abortion

Objecttive: The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness and safety of misoprostol (cytotec, Searle) used during labour in women with missed abortion before dilation and curettage. Methods: One hundred and six patients with missed abortion at the First Affiliated Hospital, Xinjiang Medical University from January 2005 to October 2006 were retrospectively investigated, Approach to different treatment, 106 cases were divided into two groups: 52 cases in misoprostol group (treatment with vaginal or oral administration of 600 microg tablets of misoprostol followed by dilation and curettage), 54 cases in mifepristone followed misoprostol group (treatment with oral administration of 300 milligram tablets of mifepristone and 600 microg tablets of misoprostol followed by dilation and curettage), compare with discharge of products of conception, emergency dilation and curettage, cervical ripening, the second dilation and curettage ,vaginal bleeding,in-hospital time. Results: the discharge of products of conception rates 16/52 in mifepristone group and 17/54 in mifepristone followed misoprostol group ,there are also no diffence in the second dilation and curettage ( 2/52 in misoprostol group and 2/54 in mifepristone followed misoprostol group) and cervical ripening(all patients with missed abortion cervical ripening better) between two groups (P > 0.05), but emergency dilation and curettage ( 0/52 in misoprostol group and 15/54 in mifepristone followed misoprostol group) , vaginal bleeding( 2/52 in misoprostol group and 23/54 in mifepristone followed misoprostol group), and in-hospital time (3.88±0.47 days in misoprostol group and 6.26±1.91 days in mifepristone followed misoprostol group) in misoprostol group are decreased obviously (P < 0.05) . Conclusions: compared to mifepristone and misoprostol followed by dilation and curettage, misoprostol followed by dilation and curettage is a highly effective and highly economical and highly safe treatment for missed abortion , misoprostol followed by dilation and curettage shoud be highly offer to women with missed abortion.
