A Trial Of Montelukast In Pediatric Asthmatoid Bronchitis Management And Prevention

Objectives:To investigate the theraputic effect,airway hyperresponsiveness preventive role of Montelukast in pediatric asthrnatoid bronchitis.And to explore whether the Montelukast can prevent the asthmatoid bronchitis developed into asthma.Methods:92 pediatric patients with asthmatoid bronchitis were devided into test group(48 patients) and control group(44 patients)by regestration sequences.Control group was given standard treatment to achieve clinical recovery and followed up 12-18 months to observe the probability of developing into asthma.The test group was given extra treatment with Montelukast on the basis of control group,then followed up 12-18 months to observe the probability of developing into asthma.Results:There was statistical significance(P＜0.05) between test group and control group when compare the days for attending wheezing relieving,symptom's scores and symptom freedays.There was statistical significance(P＜0.05)between test group and control group when compare eosinophils count after therapy.There was no statistical significance(P＞0.05)between test group and control group when compare the probability of developing into asthma.Conclusions: Montelukast can effectively manage the pediatric asthmatoid bronchitis.Montelukast can prevent the airway hyperresponsiveness at some level.But it still could not explain the Montelukast treatment for 8 weeks can prevent asthmatoid bronchitis developed into asthma.
