The Relation Between The Expression Of RARα, RARβ, ER, PR And The Carcinoma Of The Endometrium

Objective: To evaluate the role of the retinoic acid receptorα(RARα),retinoic acid receptorβ(RARβ), estrogen receptor(ER) and progesterone receptor(PR) in the development and prognosis of the endometrial carcinoma through detecting the expression of these receptors.Methods: 48 tissues embed with paraffin were selected, including 42 adenocarcinoma and 6 adeno-squamous carcinoma of endometrium. Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the level of RARα, RARβ, ER and PR. Evaluated the relation between them and the clinical pathological parameters.Results: The positive expression ratio of the RARαand RARβwere 47. 92% (23/48) and 25.00% (12/48) respectively. The level of RARαwas higher than RARβ. The expression of RARαin the endometrial carcinoma increased with the increasing of the pathological stage, on the contrary, with decreasing of the pathological differentiation, and these were significant (p<0.01). But the relation between the expression of these two receptors and the histological classify was not significant, as well as the relation with the invasive depth in the muscle (p>0.05). The level of the RARβwas consistent with that of the ER and PR, and it decreased with the increasing of the malignant extent of the endometrial adenocarcinoma (p<0.05), there was no significance with the pathological stage, the histological classify and the invasive depth in the muscle (p>0.05). The expression of ER and PR decreased with the increasing of the malignant extent of the endometrial adenocarcinoma, it was significant (p<0.01), but compared with the pathological stage, the histological classify and the invasive depth in the muscle, it was also not significant (p>0.05). There was positive correlation between the expression of the RARβand the ER, PR, but negative correlation between the RARαand the ER, PR.Conclusions: There was close relation between the expression of the RARαand the development of the endometrial carcinoma. The defect of the RARβand the high expression of the RARαindicated a bad prognosis of the endometrial carcinoma. Detect the four together was benefit for us to estimate the prognosis.
