Objective: To explor the risk factors of the post- ERCP pancreatitis (PEP) and to reduce incidence rate of it on the diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP).Methods: 54 consective patients who were undergone ERCP in our hospital were marched cohort study prospectively, and got the conclusion by univariate and multivariate analysis. Results: 3 of 54 patients occurred PEP. Risk factors of PEP were cannulation many times; pancreatic duct injections many a time; guide wire entering pancreatic duct many occasions; cannulation by guide wire leading; abdominal pain during ERCP; all pancreatic duct developed and recurrent pancreatitis. Conclusions: The occurrence of PEP is related to the patient's self-character and the doctor's operative skill. It is feasible to prevent PEP by avoiding or reducing the risk factors.
