Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and side effects of transcatheter arterial infusion chemotherapy and hyperthermia in the treatment of mid and advanced non-small cell lung cancer.Material and Methods:Forty patients of mid and advanced non-small cell lung cancer were divided into two groups, each group had 20 cases,A group was treated with transcatheter arterial infusion chemotherapy in combination with hyperthermia,B group was treated with ordinary interventional arterial infusion chemotherapy. The interventional theatment including the dose of drugs, periods and courses was identical in both groups. In group A,the 20 cases were treated for 60 minutes per time with HG-2000 external high frequency thermo-therapeutic apparatus which was made in Zhuhai Hokai Medical instruments Co.Ltd.The first hyperthermia was arranged in an hour before interventional therapy and on the fourth day(with the time interval for more than 72 hours). The 20 cases were all teeated for 173 times with hyperthermia,of which the average of hyperthermia time was 8.6 times and each case got at least one time. Its therm-detection system consists of high obstruction line transducer and computer with a accuracy of±0.1oC.All patients received DDP 80-100mg,MMC 14-20mg,5-FU 750-1000mg,THP 40-60mg.After 1&2 Courses, the clinic therapaetic effect of the cases in both groups would be evaluated as well as side effects, followed up 0.5-2 years. Results:Clinical symptom remission rate of both groups were 80%, 50% respectively, there were significant difference(P<0.05). As to A group, the mark of Karnofsky had improved in 16 cases, accounting for 80%(16/20);compared with that of the B group for 10 cases, accounting for 50%(10/20),there were significant difference(P<0.05).The result of both groups were CR5%,0%;PR70%,40%;SD25%,50%;PD0%,10%,there were significant difference(P<0.05).The survival rates of both groups for 0.5,1.0,1.5 and 2.0 years were 100%,90%;80%,65%;65%,40%;50%,25% respectively, there were no significant difference in the survival rate for 0.5,1years(P>0.05),but difference was statistically signiticant for 1.5,2 years(P<0.05).There were no significant difference of side effects in both groups. As to A group,T lymphocytes CD3+,CD4+ proportion and CD4+/CD8+ rotio and NK cell activity markedly increased, comparing with that in B group decreased, there were significant difference(P<0.05).On the level of IL-2 in the Serum of patients were significantly decreased in the A and B groups, but the change in B group is more than that in A group, there were significant difference. On the level of TNF in the Serum of patients were significantly increased in the A and B groups, the change in A group is more than that in B group, but there were no statistically significant difference. Conclusions:The efficacy in the treatment of the mid and advanced non-small cell lung cancer with transcatheter arteria infusion chemotherapy and hyperthemia is better than with ordinary interventional chemotherapy, and its side effects don't increase, which is a safe and effective treatment.
