Objective:Our study assayed the total homocysteine (Hhcy), lipoprotein(a) (Lp(a)) and ApolipoproteinE(ApoE) level of lower extremity deep venous thrombosis(LEDVT)patients to determine the relationship to this disease.Mothods:In order to undertake a case-control study, ninety LEDVT patients and ninety normal controls were studied. Their blood plasma Hcy,Lp(a),ApoE levels were evaluated respectively. all the patients were tested by Two-dimensional color Doppler flow inaging(CDFI) and venougraphy as well .Results:1.LEDVT is rare in the young individuals and becomes more common with advancing age.2. In patients with LEDVT, the incidence in females were significantly higher than males,3.The most common site of venous thrombosis was the left lower limb, distal thrombi were more common than proximal thrombi.4.Two-dimensional color doppler flow inaging(CDFI) is of significant diagnostic value in detecting the deep venous thrombosis in the common femoral vein, superficical femoral vein, deep femoral vein.Popliteal femoral vein were involved frequently. CDFI is not sensitive and reliable for diagnosing distal thromb and iliac venous thrombosis . 5.The plasma Hcy level was significant higher in LEDVT group than in control group(13.67±7.08μmol/L vs 10.16±4.30μmol/L, P<0.001),the prevalence of hyperhomocysteinemia in the LEDVT group was significantly higher than in control group. The odd ratios (OR) of hyperhomocysteinemia for LEDVT was OR=6.58,(X2=24.21, P<0.001, 95% CI 2.94-14.72 ). 6. The Lp(a) level was significant higher in LEDVT group than in control group(237.99±162.37mg/L vs 108.03±78.95mg/L p<0.001). The prevalence of high Lp(a) in the LEDVT group was significantly higher than in control group. The odd ratio (OR) of Lp(a) for LEDVT was OR=7.53 ,(X2=28.36 , P<0.001,95 % CI 3.37-16.82 ) 7. The ApoE level was significant lower in LEDVT group than in control group(21.45±9.71mg/L vs 38.21±9.09mg/L,p<0.05).The prevalence of low ApoE in the LEDVT group was significantly higher than in control group. The odd ratios (OR) of ApoE for LEDVT was OR=16.04(X2=56.23, 95% CI 7.10-36.20)8.Logistic-regression analysis indicate that hyperhomocy- steinemia and Lp(a) might be the independent risk factor for LEDVT.Conclutions:1.The results of this study suggest that:LEDVT is the frequent disease in the deep venous thrombosis, which is rare in the young individuals and becomes more frequent with advancing age. In patient with LEDVT, the incidence in females were significantly higher than males,The most common site of venous thrombosis was the left lower limb.Distal thrombi were more common than proximal thrombi. 2.Two-dimensional color doppler flow inaging(CDFI) is of significant diagnostic value in detecting the deep venous thrombosis in the femoral vein, superficical femoral vein, deep femoral vein.Popliteal femoral vein were involved frequently. CDFI is not sensitive and reliable for diagnosing distal thrombi and iliac venous thrombosis . 3. The hyperhomocysteinemia and high Lp(a) level might be independent risk factors of LEDVT.4.low ApoE also might be a risk factor for LEDVT.
