To study the pathogenic relationship between stroke and snoring,we first reviewed four major pathogenesis theories of stroke in TCM literature, and raised the point that, since extraneous or internal"wind"had attracted too much attention from doctors, the chronomedicine of stroke was poorly developed.Consequently we studied the TCM and modern medical physiology and pathology of sleep and snoring, pointed out that as a disease occurring during sleep, snoring is due to the disorder of YingWei and QiXue.Abnormal Qi ascending-descending and coming in-going out movement is the common pathogenesis between stroke and snoring, while wind, fire, phlegm and blood stagnation are the common patho-factors.With reference to domestic and foreign articles,we made an investigation sheet including the neck and abdominal circumferences,BMI(body mass index),Epworth Sleeping Scale (ESS),etc,to investigate patients with or without stroke and snoring. We used SPSS13.0 to add up.Result:(1)While with no significant difference in neck circumference and BMI, patients in stroke group have longer snoring history and older mean age than the non-stroke group.(2)In the stroke group,53.125% patients'onset was during 0am-8am,34.375% was during 8am-4pm,and 12.5% was during 4pm-0am.(3)Syndrome of wind, fire, phlegm and sthenia Fu-organ are more commonly seen in male patient of stroke, while Qi or Yin deficiency, phlegm-damp and blood stasis more commonly seen in female patients of stroke. (4)The incidence of Heat-phlegm and Sthenia Fu-organ Syndrome in stroke patient is highest during 8am and 4pm,and the incidence of the other six syndromes is the highest during 0am and 8am.
