Clinical Study On Knee Osteoarthritis Treated By Fuyuan Capsule

Objective:To observe and evaluate the clinical curative effect and the safety of the Fuyuan Capsule on knee Osteoarthritis(KOA), to discuss the mechanism by systematic clinical observation primarily.Methods:Sixty cases of knee OA patients who were determind of gan-shen deficiency with stasis in tendon and muscle syndrome were divided randomly into the treatment group(mean age=53.87±8.23,n=30) and the control group(mean age=53.87±8.23,n=30).The former was treated with Fuyuan Capsule and the latter with Xianlinggubao Capsule. And other thirty health people was divided in to the normal group(mean age=48.8±9.51, n=30).Four weeks is a course of treatment.Curative effect was analyzed after 3 courses.Index of severity of osteoarthritis (ISOA) and TCM symptom mark was observed before and after courses. Serumal HA,MMP-3,TIMP-1 level was examed before and afer three courses. Fuyuan capsule's security was observed during the treatment.Results:(1) Clinical therapeutic effect analyze shows both treatment and control groups have the effect of obviously relieving pain,improving the knee joint function.The total effective rate of Fuyuan Capsule is 90.00%,and the xianlinggubao Capsule group is 86.67%.The ISOA,the TCM syptom of both groups have significant difference (p<0.05)between before and after the treatment,while there is no significant difference between groups(p>0.05). (2)The pretherapy serumal HA,MMP-3,TIMP-1 level of KOA patients was higher than that of normals (p<0.05) and that after the treatment(p<0.05).There is no significant difference between groups.(3)No poison and side effect was found during the treatments.The patients breath, heart rate,pulse,blood pressure and the other laboratory examination indexes had not changed during the treatment.Conclusion:The Fuyuan Capsule is confirmed of having the same near future curative effect as xianlinggubao Capsule in this research.
