Objective: The study aimed at discussing the mental status of attempted suicidal and deliberate self-harm people, as well as the relevance of impulsiveness and aggressiveness and suicidal behavior. And provide theoretical evidence for prevention the occurrence of suicidal behavior, and the intervention and treatment for this group of people with high risk to commit suicide.Method: Take attempted suicide and the self-harm patients who were cured in the four General hospitals of Chengdu city as the object of study, and carries on the face-to-face interview and the questionnaire survey to themselves and their family members. Utilizes "Structured clinical interview for DSM-IV Axis I disorders" (SCID-I) to make a psychological diagnosis. Uses the impulsiveness scale and the aggressiveness questionnaire to survey each attempted suicidal patient's impulsive personality characteristic and the aggressive personality characteristic. And calculates three factors of the impulsiveness scale's (level of non-planning, level of cognitive impulsiveness, level of motor impulsiveness) separately and the total score of impulsiveness scale as well as the aggressive questionnaire's five various factors (level of physical aggression, level of verbal aggression, level of angry, level of hostility, level of aggression to self) and the total score of aggressiveness questionnaire. And assess the condition of social support of the attempted suicidal patients.Result: This survey includes 63 attempted suicidal people(suicide group) and 35 normal people (control group)in total. The respective average ages of the two group are: Suicide group 31±13.9 year old, control group 27.34±6.76 year old. In the suicide group, the ratio of female versus male is 2.32:1. The investigation discovered that the years of schooling of suicide and self-harm crowd are somewhat low. Majority of them take poison or take medicine intentionally to commit suicide. The suicidal behavior usually takes place in their own house. And the most familiar reason for them to commits suicide is quarrelling with family, and the second familiar reasons are problems of marriage and love affairs. 60.3% of attempted suicides wish to reduce or extricate their own pain as the purpose of committing suicide. Some 57 suicidal patients need physical treatment, including the 26 with life-threatening. 18 attempted suicides were diagnosed one psychiatry disorder of DSM-IV Axis I disorders, 14 of them were patients of major depression. The investigation also discovered that the impulsiveness and the aggressiveness of the two groups are quite different. Except the level of non-planning, the scores of the other two factors (level of cognitive impulsiveness, level of motor impulsiveness) and the total score of the impulsiveness scale of the suicide group are obviously higher than those of control group. And except the level of physical aggression and the level of verbal aggression, the scores of the other two factors (level of angry, level of hostility) and the total score of the aggressiveness questionnaire of the suicide group are obviously higher than those of control group. See from the results of the assessment of the social supports, the subjective support, the use of support and the total score of the scale of control group are obviously higher than the suicide group, and the score of objective support of the two groups have non-statistics differences.Conclusion: The majority of attempted suicide and self-harm is female, and most of them are less literacy. The agricultural chemicals were still the common method of suicide, and most suicide occurs in own house. The problems family and love affairs are the primary cause of suicide and self-harm. The most attempted suicides or self-harm people have the high impulsiveness and the aggressiveness. In addition, their subjective experiences of social supports are few, and they utilize social support insufficiency. Monitors the impulsiveness and the aggressiveness in the crowd will be advantageous to the prevention of the occurrence of suicidal behavior, and help attempted suicides or self-harm people to improve the understanding of social supports, and reduce the reoccurrence of suicidal behavior by making good use of social support.
