Research Background:professional values are individual treatprofessional phenomena accord to social and oneself needs,includecognize,feeling and behavior,that is philosophy'reflects amongprofessional problems,belong to the category of personalitytrendency concept.Nursing professiona values are recognized bycareerman,and through training,learning ingroup form behaviorrules,nursing professional values direct careermen's decisions andbehavior,it is the basic of nursing practice,and guide the reaction ofcareermen and patients and cooperations and other professionalcareermen and public,it is the basics that nurse improve the qualityof nursing service, nursing professional values and activeprofessional attitude are the core of total diathesis, and during nursingwork it act crucial and orientend function.Rich and colorful exteriorworld can lead to out of balance to professional mentality,nurse oftenshow the attitudes of out of balance to their redound of expectationand pay out.If nursing professional self-identity are not enough,canaffect nursing quality and lead to nursing group are not stable, somake a survey on nursing professional values'status to explore the trendency of nursing professiona values and related influence factorsis very important to make the evidence to nurse human resourcemanagement.Research Objectives1.To find out the professional values status of nurses in 3 first levelgeneral hospitals of Chen-Du;2.To analyse the human resource status of nurses in 3 first levelgeneral hospitals of Chen-Du;3.To discuss the influence factors of nurses professional values;4.To provide evidence for the management of nurse human resource;Research Objects:1.Clinic nurses who have nurse licence and work in 3 first levelgeneral hospitals of ChengDu.Including Criteria1.nurses who get nursing licences in 6 hospitals and must be on duty.Excluding Criteria1. Practicing students of nursing and the nurses who come frome theother hospital;2.Clinic nurses who work in 3 first level general hospitals ofChen-Du, but don't get nursing licence3. Nurses who get nursing licence,but not on duty.Research Method:1.Study Project:cross-sectinal study;2. Determinate the sample size; 3.Sampling method:get the list of nurses who satisfy the inclusioncriteria from the nursing departments of the hospitals;4.Researching tool:use the Nurses Professional Values Scale which ismade by Marquette University, college of nursing,Darlene Weis &Mary Jane Schank2004.The result abroad shows its reliability andvalidity are both good enough to be used to measure the nursesprofessional values.For the difference of the culture between theEast and the West,we carried through the local research.Forexample,translate,re-translate,test the intrinsic validity of items,testthe test-retest reliability of the scale.The result shows that NursesProfessional Values Scale can be used to measure the professionalvalues of native nurses;5. Method of data sorting and analysis1.All the data is put into the software spss13.0 for statistical analysis.2.Use Means and Standard deviation to describe quantitative data anduse Proportion to describe categorical data.3.Use multiple stepwise regression and completely randomizeddesign analysis of variance to analyse the data.Result1.Research results show nurses in 3 first level general hospitals ofChen-Du have higher level recognize to nursing professionalvalues, 24 items'score are from 3.058-3.963 among 26items,only two items'score are 2.909 and 2.920,the score of fourdomains are from 3.108 to 3.705. 2. Sorting the score means of 4 domains in nursesprofessional values(1)domain4 'trust' 3.705±0.884(2)domain1 'care and provide'3.553±0.948(3)domain3 'reliability, freedom, safety' 3.452±0.884(4)domain2 'actism' 3.198±0.9353.the first and last 5 score means of items in NursesProfessional ValuesThe first 5 score means:(1). Maintain confidentiality of patient(mean=3.909)(2). Maintain competency in area of practice(mean=3.832)(3). Refuse to participate in care if in ethical opposition to ownprofessional values. (mean=3.787)(4). Seek additional education to update knowledge andskills(mean=3.750)(5). Safeguard patient's right to privacy(mean=3.692)The last 5 score means:(1). Participate in public policy decisions affecting distribution ofresources. (mean=2.909)(2). Participate in peer review(mean=2,920)(3). Act as a patient advocate(mean=3.058)(4). Engage in on-going self-evaluation(mean=3.108)(5).Assume responsibility for meeting health needs of the culturallydiverse population(mean=3.133) 4. Influence factors of general scores in NursesProfessional Values:Qualifications(College)(β=-0.261),age(18~24) (β=-0.810), Titles(nurse practitioner) (β=0.195)5. Influence factors of four domains 1 'care and provide':5.1 Influence factors of 1 'care and provide':Qualifications(College)(β=-0.261), age(18~24) (β=-0.810), Titles(nurse) (β=0.827), Titles (nurse practitioner) (β=0.195)5.2 Domain 2 'actism', domain 2 'reliability, freedom,safety', anddomain 4 'trust' don't have any influence factors.6. Stratified analyse of titles,qualifications and age6.1 the identification status of nurses in different titlesdomain 1 scores of different titles:nurse:3.3354±0.88091;nursepractitioner:3.5745±0.83866;nurse-in-charge:3.4579±0.89316;associate chief nurse:4.0000±0.75593.The result of ANOVA shows thatthe scores of domain 1 in different titles is not thesame.F=3.355,p=0.019.Multiple comparison:the identificationstatus of nurse practitioners is significantly higher than nurses. Theidentification status of associate chief nurses is significantly higherthan nurses.6.2 the identification status of nurses in different qualificationsdomain 1 scores of qualifications:technical secondaryschool:3.5217; junior college: 3.3537;undergraduate:3.6813;graduate:3.5000.The result of ANOVAshows that the scores of domain 1 in various qualifications is different.F=3.077,p=0.027.The result of multiple comparisonshows that the identification status of nurses is different betweenjunior college and undergraduate nurses.The difference is0.3277,p=0.001.The identification status of undergraduate nurses is significantlyhigher than junior college nurses.6.3 The identification status of nurses in different ages6.3.1 the identification status of nurses in different agesExploring phase(18~24)89.52;Establishingphase(25-44)89.92,Maintaining phases(45-53)75.17.The generalscores is different in different ages.F=6.6776,p=0.0014. Theidentification status of exploring phase is significantly higherthan maintaining phases. The identification status of establishingphase is significantly higher than maintaining phases.6.3.2 domain 1 scores of agesage18~24:3.3868; age25~44: 3.4713; age45~53:2.8333.Thescores of domain1 is different for variousages.F=6.201,p=0.002.The identification status of nurses isdifferent between 18~24 and 45~53, and also between 24~44and 45-53.The difference is 0.5535 and 0.6379. Theidentification status of exploring phase and establishing phase indomain 1 is significantly higher than maintaining phases.7. the identification status of nurses in formal nursesand informal nurse nurses. The result shows that there is no difference between formalnurses and informal nurses in domain 1-4 and generalscores,which explains that there is no difference between formalnurses and informal nurses in nurses professional values.Results:1.Titles, qualifications and ages are the influence factors of nursesprofessional values.2.Wtih the evidence that it is different in nurses professional valuesfor different titles, qualifications and ages,it can provide nursingmanagers for preparing human resources.3.The results provide clinic evidence for the education of nursingquality.The localization of this survey:1.the nurses of samples only come from 3 first level general hospitalsof ChengDu.2.This survey only includes three influence factors: Qualifications,Age, Titles, the research depth is not enough.The questions remaining to be discussed:1.the influence of human environment to nurses professional values.
