Group 3 was specimens of 30 normal endometrium.Group 4 was specimens of 30 normal myometrium. To investigate the protein and mRNA expression of OTR and COX-2 in the ectopic and eutopic endometrium of endometriosis and adenomyosis and their relationship with pains.[Results](1)The expression of OTR,COX-2 protein of ovarian ectopic endometrial lesions was significantly increased, and it was higher than eutopic endometrium and normal endometrium. There was significantly difference between the 3 groups.(2)The expression of OTR protein in eutopic endometrium in endometriosis with pains was higher than patients without pains.(3)The expression of COX-2 protein in eutopic endometrium in endometriosis with severe pains was significantly increased, and it was higher than patients with slight pains and without pains. There was significantly difference between the 3 groups.(4)The expression of OTR mRNA in ectopic and eutopic endometrium in adenomyosis was significantly increased, and it was higher than normal myometrium and normal endometrium. There was significantly difference between the 4 groups.(5)The expression of OTR mRNA in ectopic endometrium in adenomyosis with severe pains was significantly increased, and it was higher than patients with slight pains and without pains. There was significantly difference between the 3 groups.(6)The expression of OTR mRNA in eutopic endometrium in adenomyosis with pains was higher than patients without pains.(7)The expression of COX-2 mRNA of ectopic endometrium in adenomyosis was significantly increased, and it was higher than eutopic endometrium and normal endometrium. There was significantly difference between the 3 groups.(8)The expression of COX-2 mRNA in the ectopic endometrium of adenomyosis with severe and moderate pains was significantly increased, and it was higher than patients with slight pains and without pains. There was significantly difference between the 4 groups.[Conclusions](1)The expression of OTR and COX-2 protein in the ectopic and eutopic endometrium of endometriosis was higher than normal endometrium, their expression in endometriosis patients with pains was higher than patients without pains;(2)The expression of OTR and COX-2 mRNA in the ectopic and eutopic endometrium of adeno -myosis was higher than normal endometrium, their expression was positive correlated with pain extent;(3)These findings might suggest an involvement of OTR and COX-2 in the development of endometriosis and adenomyosis. The inhibition of OTR and COX-2 by specific inhibitors might be a useful approach for the treatment of endometriosis and adenomyotic-associated pains. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | endometriosis, adenomyosis, oxytocin receptor, cyclooxygenase-2, Western bloting, reverse transcription-polylmerase chain raction | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
