Objective:To observe the change of serum vessel endothelial growth factor(VEGF)concentration of patients who adopted ginsenoside Rg3(Rg3) combined with intravesical instillation mitomycin C(MMe)chemotherapy after transurethral resection of bladder tumor(TURBt),to approach the clinical significance of this change.Methods:"Sixty-five postoperative patients with superficial bladder cancer were randomly divided into two groups, the MMC treatment group(n=33),the Rg3+MMC treatment group(n=32),absorb thirty normal people as the negative control group at the same time.the MMC treatment group, which received treatment with MMC only, intravesical instillation MMC 20mg and normal sodium 50ml once after one week of TURBt,change the pose every 15 minutes and drain it after 2 hours, once a week, once a month after 8 times to one year.the Rg3+MMC treatment group,on the base of above plus Rg3 20mg bid,2 months is one course of treatment continue 4 months at least.A 3ml blood was abstracted of all patients preoperatively, pretherapy and post-treatment two months through the ulnar vein.the normal people abstract once. All the blood was separated by centrifugation immediately and was stored in -70℃refrigerator.The concentration of VEGF in serum were measured by Partec Flowcytometery(FCM).Results:①The levels of serum VEGF of patients preoperative and pretherapy(258.0±185.1)pg/ml,(245.0±124.6)pg/ml were much higher than the negative control group(163.1±95.5)pg/ml(P<0.01),the differents has significant meaning,The levels of serum VEGF pretherapy have a slowly down compare to the preoperative(245.0±124.6)pg/ml vs(258.0±185.1)pg/ml,the differents has no statistics meaning②The levels of serum VEGF after two months in the MMC treatment group have no differents to the preoperative and pretherapy(246.4±177.5)pg/ml vs(263.2±203.4)pg/ml,(257.8±189.6)pg/ml(P>0.05),but it much higher than the negative control group(163.1±95.5)pg/ml(P<0.05)③The levels of serum VEGF in the Rg3+ MMC treatment group were much lower than the preoperative and pretherapy after two months(183.8±107.1)pg/ml vs(256.1±181.8)pg/ml,(236.2±158.2)pg/ml(P<0.05),to the level of negative control group④The levels of serum VEGF in the MMC treatment group preoperative and pretherapy compare to the Rg3+ MMC treatment group have no statistics meaning(263.2±203.4)pg/ml vs(256.1±181.8)pg/ml and (257.8±189.6)pg/ml vs(236.2±158.2)pg/ml(P>0.05),The levels of serum VEGF in the Rg3+ MMC treatment group were much lower than the MMC treatment group after two months(183.8±107.1)pg/ml vs(246.4±177.5) pg/ml.the differents has significant meaning(P<0.05).Conclusion:the levels of serum VEGF of patients with bladder cancer were much higher than the normal people, and become a new marker of bladder cancer,The combined application of ginsenoside Rg3 +MMC chemotherapy can decrease the levels of serum VEGF in the patients and might reduce the rate of the bladder cancer recurrence and metastasis.
