Objective To investgate the clinic features of interstitial lung disease(ILD) and pulmonary arterial hypertension(PAH) secondry to connective tissue disease(CTD). Methods 485 patients in Hospital diagnosed as having connective tissue disease between January 2005 and febulary 2008were retrospectively analyzed. Results (1)101 patients (81 females and 20males)were found to have connective tissue disease associated interstitial lung disease (CTD-ILD).The underlying diseases included Systemic sclerosis(SSc), Rheumatoid Arthritis(RA), systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), poly myositis(PM) . 45 patients were found to have connective tissue disease associated pulmonary arterial hypertension(CTD-PAH).The prevalence of pulmonary arterial hypertension in patients with connective tissue disease was about 13.2%..In these patients 36 cases were female, 9 cases were male.SSc and SLE had the highest incidence of PAH(21.4% and 14.2%)(P<0.01).22 patients have both ILD and PAH.(2)The main symptoms of the patients were dyspnea and cough. Doppler echocardiography revealed the dilated right ventricle with tricuspid regurgitation.5 cases of pulmonary arterial systolic pressure(PASP) are over 60mmHg. (3)Raynaud's phenomenon or interstitial lung disease were related to higher pulmonary arterial pressure ( P<0.05).There was positive correlation(P<0.05) between the presence of Raynaud's phenomenon and pulmonary arterial pressure. Pulmonary function tests and arterial oxygen pressure (PaO2) was always abnormal. Pulmonary function tests showed that the diffusion capacity of carbonmonoxide decreased. Arterial oxygen pressure (PaO 2 ) was at a low level. Conclusion Interstitial lung disease and pulmonary arterial hypertension is a common complication of connective tissue disease . SSc and SLE have the highest prevalence of PAH.The most common manifestations of CTD-PAH are dyspneaonexer tion and Raynaud's phenomenon. The presence of Raynaud's phenomenon is positively correlated with pulmonary arterial pressure. Doppler echocardiography and lung function test are necessary to detect PAH early ,so that we could discover and diagnose it in the early time.
