Expression And Significance Of MMP-9,VEGF In Endometriosis

Objective To investigate the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9)and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in the extrapelvic endometriotic lesions,ectopic and eutopic endometrium from woman with endometriosis, thereby to determine the role of MMP-9 and VEGF and their relationship in the pathogenesis of endometriosis.Methods Select 40 specimans with endometriosis (15 extrapelvic endometriosis cases,25 cases of ovarian endometriosis and meanwhile 20 eutopic endometrium cases)as research group, 20 cases of normal endometrium as a control group. Detect the expressions of MMP-9 and VEGF in extrapelvic endometriosis,eutopic and ectopic endometrium of endometriosis, as well as normal endometrium by means of immunohistochemistry , research the relativity of MMP-9 and VEGF in the endometriosis , analyze their relation to clinical stage.Resultsâ‘ M MP-9 and VEGF protein expressing mainly localized to endometrium glandular epithelium, interstitial cells;VEGF protein staining in endometrium stromal vascular endothelial cells and glandular epithelium cells.â‘¡MMP-9 and VEGFstaining in women suffering from extrapelvic endometriosis was significantly more pronounced in endometriotic lesions than in ectopic endometrium of ovarian endometriosis(P < 0.05), and had significantly difference compare nomal endometrium. (P<0.005).The expression levels of MMP-9,VEGF in the eutopic endometrium and normal endometrium was lower than that in ectopic endometriosis of ovarian endometriosis(P<0.05,P<0.005).However, there was no obvious difference between the eutopic endometrium and normal endometrium(P>0.05),in the prolificative phase and secretory phase ,there showed no statistical difference(P>0.05).â‘¢The expression of MMP-9,VEGF protein were irrespective of the clinical stage(P>0.05).â‘£There was a significantly positive correlation between expression of MMP-9 and VEGF in extrapelvic endomitriosis and in ovarian endometriosis.Conclusionsâ‘ The expression of MMP-9,VEGF was significantly positive correlation in endometriosis,suggests their have synergistic effect in angiogenesis,local invasion and distant metastasis.â‘¡The expression of MMP-9,VEGFprotein were irrespective of the clinical stage.â‘¢T he increased expression of MMP-9,VEGF in extrapelvic and ovarian endometriosis may cause the degradation of extracellular matrix,angiogenesis, prone to local implantation and development. The overexpres- -sion of them may cause the distant metastasis.
