Objective: To evaluate the correlation between the multi-slice helical CT features regularity of pulmonary metastases and the primary sites so that improving the correct diagnosis of pulmonary metastases with CT.Methods: 100 patients(59 men, 41 women;age range, 11~79,mean 62.2 years)with definite primary tumor and pulmonary metastases which were proved by histology, clinic and CT were retrospectively reviewed. All of the patients were examined at least twice with chest CT(GE Lightspeed and PHILIPS Brilliance 16 rows multi-slice CT scanner, 2.0mm~5.0mm thickness). To view the number, distribution, margin and internal structure of the lesions in conventional lung and mediastinal window. On the base of the number and the distribution, 100 cases metastasis were classified into three types : diffuse metastasis (means the total of the metastasis is uncountable or the total of the metastasis in unilateral is more than 10 or the metastasis can be seen in both segments),multiple metastasis and solitary metastasis; The margin and the internal structure included seven types : lobatus, barb ,halo sign,Calcification, bullule,Cavitation, air bronchogram. The primary sites include respiratory system(lung),breast, digestive system and othe rare sites. The histological type include adencarcinoma (AD), Squamous cell carcinomas(SQ), infitrating ductal carcinoma (IDC) ,sarcoma(SA) and other rare types. Rare sites and types were not statistical analysised. The correlation between the CT features regularity of different types pulmonary metastases and the primary sites and the histological types were respectively evaluated. All the cases have been double-blind read by two physicians. SPSS 15.0 and chi-square(p<0.05) was used to make the significant analysis. Results: 100 patients(male,61;female,41;age range,11~79,mean 62.2 years)with definite primary tumor and pulmonary metastases which were proved by histology, clinic and CT were retrospectively reviewed.
