This paper discusses the concept of chromatographic fingerprinting technology, the significance in the process of Chinese herbal medicine modernization the characteristics of chromatographic fingerprinting method, the status quo and development trends. This paper also reviewes the application and study of Euphorbia humifusa Willd in resent years, discusses the Euphorbia humifusa Willd HPLC fingerprint of the scientific significance and innovation.By studying on the Euphorbia humifusa Willd with High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), found the best conditions and method to establish HPLC chromatogram fingerprint of Euphorbia humifusa Willd. Methods: The different places of the Euphorbia humifusa Willd are measured by RP-HPLC. The separation is performed on Century SILC18-EPS (5μm 4.6×250mm)column. The follow rate is 0.8mL·min-1, and the temperature is 30℃. The gradient elution is in a mobile phase of acetonitrile﹙A﹚-superwater﹙B﹚ at wavelength of 272nm (0~10min) and 345nm (10~65min). The results suggest that it is a satisfactory method because of good precision, stability, reproducibility, and other methods of investigation indicates that the fingerprints of the Euphorbia humifusa Willd is in line with the establishment of fingerprinting requirements. According to the similarity result, ten samples from different places,15 co-possessing peaks were selected as the fingerprint of the Euphorbia humifusa Willd and gallic acid is selected as the reference peak to calculate the relative retention time and relative peak area, the fingerprints of the Euphorbia humifusa Willd from different places is compared with Excel 2003, and the similarity is better. Also contributes to establish a standard of the Euphorbia humifusa Willd for quality control.
