Objective:To investigate the expression of indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase(IDO) in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),surranding tissue and tumor infiltrating lymphcyte and the clincincal meaning.Method:The expression and distribution of IDO in hepatocellular carcinoma, surrounding tissue and tumor infiltrating lymphcytes was detected by immunohistochemistry in 21 clinical diagnosed HCC patients. The correlation of IDO expressioin, clinical pathological character, histological differentiation degree and vedio menifestation was analyzed. Results:The IDO expression in hepatocellular carcinoma which correlated significantly with organic pathological stages is much the same with that in tumor infiltrating lymphocyte.Yet no relationship was found between IDO expression and patients' age, gender and TNM phases. The IDO expression in infiltrating tissue was significantly higher than that in nubby tissue. The carcinoma of low degree differentiation expressed much more IDO than those with high degree differentiation. The IDO expression enhanced in paracarcinoma hepatocirrhosis than that in primary lesion. Conclusion:IDO may inhibit immunological function and mediate immunity escape of carcinoma.IDO expression in hepatocirrhosis increased even before HCC occurred. It may because exhauted tryptophan devastated cell cycle and dwarfed T-lymphocyte.T-lymphocyte apoptosis was thus induced, with immunity escape of carcinoma as a consequence.IDO positively correlated with carcinoma malign degree is a indicator of ban prognosis.
