Objective To detect the expression and distribution of matrix metalloproteinase - 9 and latent membrane protein-1 in nasal NK/T cell lymphoma, and to explore their roles in generation and development of nasal NK/T cell lymphoma .Methods Immunohistochemistry by EliVision technique was used to detect the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-9 and latent membrane protein-1 in nasal NK/T cell lymphoma, and a tissue chip which consists of other type lymphoma were used for relative research, meanwhile 20 cases of reactive lymphoid hyperplasia were also used for comparison . Results The positive expression rate of MMP-9 and LMP-1 in the group of nasal NK/T cell lymphoma was 87.0%(35/40)and 40.0%(16/40)respectively. Tissue chip consists of the group of B-cell lymphoma and T-cell lymphoma .The positive expression rate of MMP-9 and LMP-1 in the group of B-cell lymphoma was 61.1%(11/18)and 11.1%(2/18)respectively ,while those in 12 cases of T-cell lymphoma was 50.0%(6/12)and 25.0%(3/12)respectively. There is only one case of positive expression of LMP-1 in the group of reactive lymphoid hyperplasia and the positive expression rate of MMP-9 was 40.0%(8/20)in it. The positive expression rates of MMP-9 and LMP-1 between the group of nasal NK/T cell lymphoma and reactive lymphoid hyperplasia had significant difference statistically(P<0.05). The expression of MMP-9 and LMP-1 have no correlation with the age, gender, clinical stage and the level of LDH of the patients who have been diagnosis with nasal NK/T cell lymphoma . The positive expression rate of MMP-9 in the group of nasal NK/T cell lymphoma was higher than T-cell lymphoma in tissue chip. The expression of MMP-9 showed a positive correlation with the expression of LMP-1 in nasal NK/T cell lymphoma. Conclusion MMP-9 is highly expressed in nasal NK/T cell lymphoma. LMP-1 which is close correlated with the virus of EB can upregulate the expression of MMP-9. MMP-9 and LMP-1 may play a critical role in the generation and development of nasal NK/T cell lymphoma .
