| Objective: To assess expression of matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) and latent membrane protein-1 (LMP-1) with metastasis in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). Methods: The expression of MMP-9 and LMP-1 were Immunohistochemically examined in 83 NPC section. Results: The positive expression rate of MMP-9 were 65ï¼…, correlated with lymph node metastasis, distant metastasis (p<0.05).The positive expression rate of LMP-1 were 57ï¼…, correlated with lymph node metastasis, distant metastasis(p<0.05).The expression of MMP-9 showed a significant positive correction with the expression of LMP-1 (r=0.327,p<0.05). The factor predicting distant metastasis in NPC was 92 stage(â…¢,â…£), N3,The positive expression of MMP-9 and LMP-1. if positive expression of MMP-9 and LMP-1 together, had a higher risk of distant metastasis. Conclusions: MMP-9 and LMP-1 being highly expressed in NPC, is apt to be used of predictor of distant metastasis. The induction of MMP-9 by LMP-1 contributes to the metastatic protential of NPC. |
