Ginkgo leaves sourced the drying leaves of Ginkgo biloba L., Flavonoides and ginkgolides are the most important active materials in ginkgo leaves. As a highly specific platelet activating factor antagonist, recently ginkgolides have been one of the most popular traditional Chinese medicines.In this paper, an HPLC-ELSD method was established for the quantitative determination of four kind ginkgolides in 50 batchres of ginkgo leaves, and to analyze the datas. The analysis was performed on phenonoonon C18 column(250 mm×4.6 mm,5μm)with 35 % methanol as mobile phase,at a flow rate of 1.000 mL/min. The drift tube temperature of the ELSD detector was 55℃and the evaporative gas was nitrogen with pressure of 25 psi. The content of ginkgolides in ginkgo leaves, which are picked among 8~9 month from the ginkgo in laterite for 6~8 years without graft, is higher. The total concent of ginkgolides is always between 0.211~0.726 %. The method is accurate with good repeatability for the quantitative determination of ginkgolides in ginkgo leaves. The content of ginkgolides is largely affected by the growth conditions of ginkgo leaves and the influence factors need to be deeply researched.An HPLC-ELSD method was established for the fingerprint of ginkgo leaves. The signals of fingerprint were numerically processed.By studying comparatively the fingerprints of 10 samples, 18 peaks have been confirmed. The similarity assessment was carried out quantitatively by the overlap ratio of chromatographic peaks, and the overlap ratio was over 84.1%.Thus, the samples were qualitatively classified and identified by hierachical clustering analysis.When the Euclid distance reached to 0.13, the samples were considered to belong to the same type.The similarity is up to 0.9 by Computer Aided Similarity Evaluation software, satisfying the requests of fingerprint.
