Objective:To investigate the diagnosis,surgical treatment and clinical features of non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)with isolated synchronous brain metastasis,Improve the diagnosis and treatment of the disease.Method:Retrospectively analyzed 3 patients exhibiting primary NSCLC and isolated synchronous brain metastasis treated in Shandong provincial hospital from March2005 to May2008.Result:All 3 patients:male aged 58,female aged 58 and male aged 53 being treated of lung cancer were synchronously diagnosed as isolated brain metastasis.All 3 patients had undergone neurosurgery first,and after 20,10,15 days respectively,they underwent thoracic surgery.There was no operative or in-hospital mortality.The first two patients received the following chemotherapy and whole brain radiotherapy(WBRT).The first two patients are both alive until May2008.Conclution:It seems legitimate to proceed with lung resection after complete resection of a isolated brain metastasis in a selected group of patients exhibiting primary NSCLC and isolated synchronous brain metastasis.After the operations,the patients should receive WBRT or chemotherapy to reduce the recurrences.
