| Objective:To observe the clinical curative effect and the safety of the therapy of electric acupuncture combining with in the treatment of acute herpes zoster,to confirm its effect in treating the disease and to promote its application in clinical practice.Method:1.Through random controlled way of study,divide the patients with acute herpes zoster who meet the standards of the disease' s diagnosis into two groups:the Acupuncture Group and the Medication Group.2.The Acupuncture Groups was consisted of 30 cases.Acu-points used were A-shi points around the skin damage,correlated Jia-ji points of the related diseasednerves and Houxi(SI3)as well as Zhigou(SJ6)on each side.Manipulation method:(1) Circling Needle:After sterilizing the skin for treatment,insert the needle around the area of skin damage with an angle of 15 degree.The distance should be about 1-2cm between each of the two needles and 0.2 cm away from the skin damage.Keep the needles in this way for 30 minutes,one time a day.(2)Electric acupuncture:①Jia-ji Points:insert the needles obliquely with a 45 degree angle,directing to the spinal column.The inserted depth of the needles should be around 0.8-1 cun.And after the arrival of qi,connect the needles to the Han' s Electric Acu-point Stimulator.②Zhigou(SJ6)and Houxi(SI3):insert the needles perpendicularly to the depth of 0.8 cun.After the arrival of qi, connect Houxi(SI3)and Zhigou(SJ6)with the cathode and anode of Han' s Acu-point Stimulator respectively.The parameter of the stimulator is 2/100HZ,2-5mA,30 minutes.The acupuncture treatment should be arranged one time a day,30 minutes each time and ten times altogether.3.The Medication Group was also consisted of 30 cases.All were prescribed with Valaciclovir (300mg a time,2 times a day)Vitamin B1(10mg a time,3 times a day).All medicine were taken orally for ten days.4.Evaluating criterions:blister evaluating criterions(including the time for blisters ceasing to grow and the time of its incrustation and decrustation),neuralgia evaluating criterions (including VAS assessment,the degree of pain relief,the time for its relief and the time length of the pain),the grading for integrative treating effect, the incidence of PHN as well as the treatment' s safety.Result:1.No statistic difference was observed in either the time for blisters ceasing to grow or the time for its incrustation and decrustation between the two groups.This could not prove that acupuncture treatment has better effect of improving the symptoms of skin damage than western medication.2. Differences is observed in the degree of pain of relief and the time for neuralgia beginning to improve as well as the total length of time of the neuralgia between the two groups(P＜0.05).Acupuncture group is more advantageous in this comparison,which indicates that it has very good effect of relieving neuralgia.Meanwhile,acupuncture treatment also showed satisfactory result of instant pain relieving.3.In the grading for integrative curative effect,Acupuncture Group showed better improvement in comparison(P＜0.05).4.Two out of 30 cases in the Acupuncture Group still had neuralgia by the 30th day.By the 60th and 90th day,there was only one such case respectively.The Medication Group recorded 5 and 4 such cases in these dates accordingly.This coincides with the general incidence of PHN and in comparison;the incidence rate was no smaller in comparison with medication group.5.All patients showed high compliability to the treatment.However, in the comparison of safety,Acupuncture treatment showed advantage(P＜0.05).Conclusion:The treating effect of using electric needles combining with Circling Needle on patients with acute herpes zoster is better than that of western medication.Also,the convenience,safety and speediness of the effect make acupuncture treatment more advantageous and for all these reasons its application should be highly recommended.
