ObjectiveThe objective was to observe the clinical effects of fire needle combined with pricking-cupping bloodletting in treating acute Herpes zoster,so as to provide the clinical foundation for relieving the nerve pain from acute Herpes zoster faster and reducing the occurrence rate of PHN.MethodsThis study collected 60 patients who were conformed to the diagnostic criteria and the inclusion criteria of Herpes zoster from the Acupuncture and Dermatology outpatient department in Guangdong Second Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The patients were divided into two groups, which both contained 30 patients,in a simple random method. The treatment group was cured with fire needle and pricking-cupping bloodletting while taking pills(Aciclovir Tablets and Mecobalamin Tablets). We pricked and cupped on the head and tail of the herpes, where the herpes appeared first and were most far away from the spine.Next,we used fire needle to stab the Jiaji acupoints,Ashi acupoints and the herpes between the head and tail of the herpes. The control group was cured with Aciclovir Tablets and Mecobalamin Tablets. We treated three times a week, and the whole course was two week.At last, not only the time of herpes-stopping,scab-forming and scab-falling,but also VAS visual analogue scale, comprehensive efficacy score, the occurrence rate of PHN and VAS decline rate were supposed to evaluate the clinical efficacy.ResultsThere was no statistical significance between the treatment group and the control group while comparing with the differences in the general data,VAS score and comprehensive efficacy score before treatment(P>0.05)Therefore,the basic situation and condition between two groups were consistent and comparable. After the treatment, the total effective rate of the treatment group was 96.66%,while 86.66%in the control group.By means of the rank sum test, the difference of the total effective rate between two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05),which accounted that the treatment group had better efficacy in treatment compared with the control group.Compared with the time of herpes-stopping,scab-forming and scab-falling,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),which supposed that the treatment group did well at treating herpes. In contrast to the pain intensity after treatment, there ' s statistically significant difference after the third treatment(P<0.05),which told that the treatment group was better than the control group in pain-relieving in the middle and later periods. In contrast to the comprehensive efficacy score after treatment, there ' s statistically significant difference after the third treatment(P<0.05),which showed that the treatment group gained more scores in the comprehensive efficacy score in the middle and later periods.Contrasted with the occurrence rate of PHN,the difference between two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05),which revealed that the treatment group could reduce the occurrence of PHN compared with the control group. The clinical study suggested that fire needle combined with pricking-cupping bloodletting could cure herpes and relieve nerve pain more quickly, have better effect on the comprehensive symptoms, and reduce the occurrence of PHN.ConclusionThe clinical efficacy of fire needle combined with pricking-cupping bloodletting in treating acute Herpes zoster was significant, the therapy could cure herpes and relieve nerve pain more quickly, reduce the occurrence of PHN,and have excellent efficacy on the comprehensive symptoms, thus it was worthy of being further investigated and promoted.
