Object: To detect the expressions of phosphorylated signal transduction and activetors of transcription-3(p-STAT3),epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and transforming growth factor-α(TGF-α) in psoriasis vulgaris, to investigate the function of they in pathogenesis of psoriasis vulgaris. Methods: SP immunohistochemistry was used to detect the the expression of p-STAT3, EGFR and TGF-αin active stage, quiescent stage and catagenetic stage of psoriasisvulgaris (20 cases in every stage ). Meanwhile, those factors were detected in normal skin tissue as control. Results:.①There was expression of p-STAT3 in all groups of psoriasis, while there was little expressive in normal skin tissue. There was significant difference between each stages of psoriasis and normal skin tissue(P<0.05).②In stratum basale, the expressive level of EGFR was strong in all groups, in stratum spinosum and stratum granulosum, the expressive level of EGFR were strong in lesion specimens of active stage and quiescent stage of psoriasis, the expressive level of EGFR was decreased significantly in normal skin and catagenetic stage of psoriasis. There was significant differentce between expressive intensity and different stages, such as active and catagenetic stage of psoriasis, quiescent and catagenetic(regression) stage of psoriasis, active and normal skin, quiescent and normal skin(P<0.05). There was no significant differenct between active and quiescent stage, catagenetic stage of psoriasis and normal skin(P>0.05)③There was weak expression of TGF-αin normal skin and catagenetic stage. The expression level of TGF-αin active and quiescent stage of psoriasis was stronger markedly than that in normal skin and catagenetic stage of psoriasis. There was significant difference between expressive intensity active and catagenetic stage of psoriasis, quiescent and catagenetic stage of psoriasis, active stage of psoriasis and normal skin, quiescent stage of psoriasis and normal skin(P<0.05). There was no significant difference between active and quiescent stage of psoriasis, catagenetic stage of psoriasis and normal skin(P>0.05).④T here was positive correlation between expressive intensity of p-STAT3 and EGFR,p-STAT3 and TGF-α,EGFR and TGF-αin psoriasis lesion(P<0.05).Conclusion:①The expression are increased of p-STAT3 and EGFR and TGF-αin psoriasis vulgaris lesions, they may play roles in the lesion specimens of psoriasis.②The possible mechanism of STAT3 activation in psoriasis vulgaris is interaction between over-expressed EGFR and over-existed TGF-α, activated EGFR may make STAT3 phosphorylation in downstream signal transduction pathway.
