Objective:The essay assesses the condition of critical thinking of clinical nursing teachers in ShanXi Province and explore the factors which influence the critical thinking of the teachers,so as to make nursing educators or clinical nursing teachers and managers pay close attention to critical thinking;to raise reformed suggestions and to provide theoretic basis for consummating nursing teachers'continuing education and teachers'training.Subjects and Methods:The study is a cross-section study. By cluster sampling,the basic information is collected from 293 clinical nursing teachers of 10 third—grade class A general hospitals in ShanXi Province. Inputting primary data in Epidata 3.1 software, it studies on the original statistics which involved reliability analysis,construct validity analysis,t-test,analysis of variance,linear correlation and multiple linear regression analysis.The data was coded and analyzed using SPSS13.0,LISREL8.0 software.Results:1,The total score of critical thinking disposition for the clinical nursing teachers was 284.35±24.48 indicating a positive inclination toward critical thinking.The mean scores of five sub-scales,inquisitiveness,analyticity,systematicity,CT self-confidence,maturity,ranking at descending order of scores ,were above 40;the mean scores of open-mindedness and truth-seeking are less than 40 and the lowest mean score was achieved for the truth-seeking subscale.2,The total score and three sub-scale which includes analysis,evaluation,inference scores of critical thinking skill for the clinical nursing teachers were 11.06±3.13,3.89±1.43,4.37±1.77,2.81±1.53 respectively.3,The critical thinking disposition and skills of these nursing teachers showed a statistically positive correlation(r=0.235,P<0.001).4,Multiple stepwise regression analysis reveal that:4.1 The degree that clinical nursing teachers are affected by traditional teaching mode is negatively related to the critical thinking .4.2 Educational background,length of service,professional title,length of teaching are positively related to the critical thinking .4.3 Reading habit,length of reading,reading contents make a difference with the nursing teachers'critical thinking .4.4 Nuring round,advanced study,participating in science research,publishing articles,training of teaching are positively related to the critical thinking .4.5 Basic attitude towards the role of teacher,accepting teaching suggestions,discussing problems of teaching,teaching diary make a difference with the critical thinking .Conclusion:1,The clinical nursing teachers are not good at ability of truth-seeking and inference skill . The overall level of teachers'critical thinking need to be promoted.2,The development critical thinking disposition and skills of these teachers is to complement each other.3,Traditional teaching mode is one of the factors that to impede the development critical thinking of the nursing teachers.4,With educational background,experience of working and teaching,good reading habit,continuing education,favourable teaching condition and effective teaching feedback,nursing teachers'critical thinking can be improved.Suggestion:1,Controllers in the hospitals should think highly of critical thinking and create the conditions that enhance the nursing teachers'critical thinking.2,Thinking curriculum design should be further consummated and educator who are good at correlated science should be cultivated.3,To cultivate male clinical nursing teachers in nursing domain should be paid greater attention to.Originality in the study:1,By now we do not yet discover the reports about critical thinking skills of nursing teachers.This study describes roundly the current situation of clinical nursing teachers'critical thinking for the first time.2,To explore the factors which influence the critical thinking of the teachers and to raise reformed suggestions ,providing theoretic basis for consummating nursing teachers'continuing education and teachers'training.Plans for making further investigations:1,More work should be done to further consummate and carry out measures enhancing cilinical nursing teachers'critical thinking and properly undertake sthenia syndrom research.2,More work should be done to extensively collect the data and materials of nurses'critical thinking skills in order to providing informations that further revise the questionnaire of critical thinking skills. 3,More work should be done to extend samples all over the country.
