ObjectiveThis study aimed to determine the immunohistochemical difference from ICC and HCC byanalyzing the immunohistochemical targets, and it can provide us some reliable immunohistochemical targets which can help us discriminate from ICC and HCC,and it will be useful to study biological characteristics of ICC.MethodsThe immunohistochemical data of 810 cases of ICC undergoing hepatectomy between 1996 and 2006 were retrospectively collected and compared with those of 810 cases of HCC in the same period, and were analyzed by the SPSS 14.0 statistical software.ResultsThe analysis revealed that there were significant immunohistochemical differences between ICC and HCC in Hep-1(p=0.0000),HbsAg(p=0.0000),CK19(p=0.0000), CD34(p=0.0000),P53(p=0.0000),PCEA(p=0.0000),CA19-9(p=0.0000),HER (p=0.0000),MUCl(p=0.0000),CD10(p=0.0041<0.05),AQP-1(p=0.0000) (P<0.05).ConclusionICC is a variant of primary liver cancer(PLC).Studying the immunohistochemical features is beneficial to improve the differential diagnosis of ICC from HCC.
