| Objective: To compare the clinical effects of hemiarthroplasty and total hip arthroplasty(THA) in treatment of femoral neck fractures in the elderly. Methods: 107 elderly patients with femoral neck fracture were divided into group A with 61 patients of hemiarthroplasty and group B with 46 patients of THA . The mediate follow-up period was 6.5 years, ranging from 5 to 10 years. The clinical effects were evaluated according to Harris scoring system. Results: There was no significant difference of clinical effects between group A and B in the first year ,and the effects of group B were significant superior to those of group A beyond 3 years .Conclusions: The clinical effects of hemiarthroplasty and THA were satisfying at the early stage. The long-term effects of THA were better than those of hemiarthroplasty in treatment of femoral neck fractures in the elderly. |
