ObjectiveTo explore the clinical characteristics of gastrointestinal stromal tumors(GIST) and enhance to its diagnosis, the treatment and the prognosis understanding.MethodsThe clinic information of 119 patients with gastrointestinal stromal tumors, who were in our hospital from 1995 to 2005,were analyzed retrospectively.According to the sex, tumor size, character, primary position, incisal edge and recrudescence shift, we divide the material into 6 groups and use the chi-square criterion to analysis material significance difference, the single factor analysis correlation factor, carries on the survival analysis using the COX return model.ResultsSurgical interventions were performed on 119 patients with GIST,among which 21 cases were benign,98 were malignant by pathologic diagnosis . 114 of 119 patients were followed - up from 2 to 10 years. There were 59 patients dead.50 patients suffered from tumor metastasis or tumor relapse in situ, and died of GIST. 2 patients suffered from other tumors. The others died of advance year and some internal medical disease. The single factor analysis indicated tumor size, tumor nature, primary spot and recrudescence shift with survival rate related, the multi-factor COX regression analysis demonstration prognosis only is connected with the tumor size and the recrudescence shift(P<0.05).ConclusionsThe clinical situations of GIST have not specificity,so the ratio of preoperative definite diagnosis is low.The final diagnosis of GIST depends on pathological examination. The size, character, primary position and metastasis have the effect on the prognosis. At present, the optimal treatment of GIST is reasonable surgery excision and medicine complex therapy.
