Objective Explore the significance of apoptosis of myocardial cell and expression of c-Jun in Suddun Cardiac Death(SCD),to provide a new method for SCD identification. Methods 50 autopsy cases were divided into 4 groups(CHD sudden death group.viral myocarditis sudden death group, dilated cardiomyopathy sudden death group and control group ).The apoptotic index of myocardial apoptosis was detected by TUNEL method. And the optical density of myocardial c-Jun protein was detected by immunhistochemical techmique. Then analysis the differences between this 4 groups. Results Apoptosis of myocardial cell is showing nucleus location. CHD sudden death group , viral myocarditis sudden death group and dilated cardiomyopathy sudden death group were all higher than the control group in apoptotic index(P<0.01).Viral myocarditis sudden death group and dilated cardiomyopathy sudden death group were higher than CHD sudden death group in apoptotic index(P<0.01),but there is no statistics contrast between the two groups(P>0.05). c-Jun immunohistochemistry staining is showing nucleus and cytoplasm location, and no visible margin between each other.CHD sudden death group, viral myocarditis sudden death group and dilated cardiomyopathy sudden death group were all higher than the control group in the optical density of c-Jun(P<0.01) , but there is no statistics contrast between the three groups(P>0.05).Conclusions It can be an important mark in SCD identification by detecting apoptosis of myocardial cell and expression of c-Jun,but it is no use to identify the type of the disease. The appearance of c-Jun has time dependence,so it can not be found in the case whose time is too short from the start of the symptom to death. So we need further investigation in this aspect.
