ObjectiveTo study the effectiveness of MEGX test in evaluating the liver reserve of rats with experimental liver cirrhosis in different hepatectomy.MethodsDeveloping a model of rat liver cirrhosis with complex factors (CCL4,cholesterol,alcohol).40 male SD cirrhosis rats were randomly divided into 4 groups.group A was corresponding control group;group B,C,D were experimental groups; The rats of all groups were the different partial hepatectomy groups. The group A (n=10)subjected to 0% partial hepatectomy; The group B(n=10) subjected to 15% partial hepatectomy; The group C(n=10) subjected to 30% partial hepatectomy; The group D(n=10) subjected to 45% partial hepatectomy .The observations included MEGX,ICGR15,common hepatic function.the liver were taken for pathologic examination.ResultsMEGX test parameters of experimental postoperative groups were lower than preoperative group (p<0.05).Along with development of hepatectomy, the level of serum MEGX decreases(p<0.05) .There were significant differences (p<0.05) among all postoperative groups for MEGX concentrations.ICGR15 parameters of experimental postoperative groups were higher than preoperative group (p<0.05).Along with development of hepatectomy, the level of ICGR15 higher (p<0.05) .There were significant differences (p<0.05) between control postoperative group and experimental postoperative groups for ICGR15 level ,but not between group C and group D (p>0.05).Conventional liver function tests showed minor differences between experimental groups and control group. The changes in ALT,AST,TP values were statistically significant in group D but not in other groups when compared with control postoperative group.ConclusionThe MEGX test can sensitive reflect the damage extent in liver reserve capacity, which is better than that of ICGR15 test or Conventional liver function tests.
