ObjectiveBilingual teaching is a teaching model in which a second language is used as a teaching tool. It is an important means to change traditional education system and establish a new scientific educational objective and such a teaching model can help us better absorb advanced scientific knowledge for our economic construction. The major research objectives of the study are:(1) To analyze the whole status quo of bilingual teaching in higher technical and vocational education in China.(2) To probe the main problems and countermeasures when bilingual teaching is being applied in Shandong Medical College.(3) To investigate the student's perceptions and attitudes regarding teaching and learning through the medium of English.Methods1. Literature Retrieval Analysis To contrast and summarize viewpoints according to related papers and researches of bilingual teaching of home and abroad.2. Case study The participants were nursing students from Shandong Medical College. The fundamentals of nursing courses are taught bilingually for English nursing students. The researcher will probe the problems occurring during the teaching process. 3. Investigation method Through the interview and questionnaire to find the students' perception and attitudes of bilingual teaching.Result1. General information of foreign-oriented nursing studentsThe results show that the English level of these students is quite good. At grade 2, there are 25 students who have passed Mets-3, 65 students who have passed CET-4 and 2 students who have got 5.5 in IELTS. As for the purpose of learning English, 75% students want to find a good job in future, 10% for English certification, 8% to meet the requirements of college and 7% for further study or taking a job in foreign country in future.2. The practical effects and appraisement of bilingual teachingBy comparing the scores of evaluation test between the experimental group and the controlling group, we have to come to the conclusion that we have achieved obvious practical effects from bilingual teaching. As for the attitudes of students: 91% hold the agreeable opinion for this teaching model,43% are not satisfied with the teaching method, 71% hope to use this model as soon as possible, 72% think the bilingual textbooks is acceptable and 55% maintain that the students number of a class should be limited within 20 to 30.3. The main problems of bilingual teaching in foreign-oriented English nursing specialtyThe research shows that it is necessary to apply bilingual teaching in college, however, there are still problems such as the insights into bilingual teaching are not clear for both teachers and students, the students jut try to pursue a high final exam score with neglect of the real purpose of bilingual teaching, there are not enough chances for students to practice English terminologies, the level of teachers need to be improved, the teacher should use various teaching methods to suit for this kind of teaching and we should construct more interventions to ensure high quality of bilingual teaching.Conclusion The composition of teaching faculty and different levels of students in colleges decides that it is a hard and intricate way to apply bilingual teaching in China. How to attract more excellent teachers to devoting to bilingual teaching? How to create more perfect bilingual teaching model to accord with the actuality of China? In a certain sense, the only route to solve these problems is to continue to practice and study in the bilingual teaching field.
