Study On The Pharmacist Service Utilization Status Of Self-medication People And Its Influence Factors In Wuhan

With the reformation of medical system,the implement of classified management of prescription drug and non-prescription drug and the enhancement of people's self-health care consciousness, more and more people adopt self-medication regarding some common diseases . However, the drugs not only can prevent disease and also can make diseases, it would be bound to increase phenomenon of medicine abuses or wrong uses if it is customer who elects the medicine freely. Regarding the consumer, the premise of safe self-medication is pharmacist's instruction. Pharmacists are specialists who provide the pharmacy service, the quality and function of service have a profound influence on self-medication people. According to the materials, the proportion of citizen self-medication is higher than countryside obviously, therefore this research chooses Wuhan which is a developed city as the inspection spot. We investigated the present situation of pharmacy service provided by pharmacists and the service use among self-medication people in Wuhan, it analyses synthetically all kinds of benefit, provides condition to perfect pharmacists system and some policies. Objective:This research through the investigation of present situation of pharmacists service in Wuhan, clearly defines the responsibility and the function of pharmacist in self-medication, analyses the implement of pharmacist system according to stakeholder, inquires into the influence factor of displaying affect of pharmacists, and provides the suggestion for perfecting the pharmacist system and laying down correlative policies. Method:1. Literature Method, consulted massive domestic and foreign rules, regulations, responsibilities, functions and the development situation of pharmacists and some similar literatures about self-medication.2. Questionnaire Survey Method,Carries on the questionnaire survey in the sample community, obtains first materials about self-medication people, including service attitude, use and effect of pharmacists.3. In-depth Interview Method, Investigates the pharmacist, the pharmacy operator and part of the self-medication people through the half structural interview, be acquainted with the interrelation among pharmacies, pharmacists and self-medication people.4. Scene Observational Method, observes the pharmacist's work process in the sample pharmacy, and records the specific environment and the condition. Then we can obtain more profound information and deep understanding about the action of the self-medication people touching with the pharmacists.5. Statistical Analyses Method, The data is input through Microsoft Office Excel2003, and dealt with through SPSS11.5. According to the materials'quality, all of the data are tackled and analyzed through biostatistics method such as T-test, Chi-square test, Multiple Response analysis.Results:1. Pharmacist's function in retail pharmacy:①Responsible for the management of pharmacy drug's quality;②Responsible for inspecting the prescription, supervising and preparing;③Responsible for instruction and consultation of the prescription drug and the non-prescription drug for self-medication people④Responsible for inspecting the ADR in the pharmacy;⑤Responsible for instructing the other salespeople in the pharmacy through the specialized technical guidance.2. the characteristic of self-medication people utilizing pharmacist's service in Wuhan: ①Knowing rate and utilizing rate are not high, group characteristic also exists obviously;②Difference of gender and age exist obviously in self-medication people who adopt pharmacist's service;③Pay attention to ADR;④deepen the consultative document;⑤The effect is not obvious after consultanting the pharmacists.3. The influence factor of pharmacist service:①The pharmacist's vocational level is not high;②The idea of"serves for the consumer"is not formed among the pharmacists;③The propaganda is not good, the public have low confidence in pharmacists;④The service provided by pharmacist lacks of corresponding legal protection;⑤The pharmacy operator pursues the economic interest excessively.Conclusions:The main stakeholders of pharmacist service are self-medication people, pharmacy and government respectively. Government is the decision maker of pharmacist system, it regulates pharmacist's behavior through laying down some rules and laws and propagandizes pharmacist's positive role to self-medication people, encourages public to adopt the scientific and reasonable self-medication, so that alleviates the medical expense pressure for the government. The pharmacies take profit as their goal, the employment relations between pharmacies and pharmacists determines that the pharmacist service is affected by the pharmacy operator. The relationship between pharmacists and self-medication people is the relationship between service providers and receivers, there are not direct conflicts of interest between them, but the binding business relation between pharmacy operators and pharmacists causes consumer's question, which affects the quality of pharmacist service.Suggestions:In order to enhance the public utilization of pharmacist service, display pharmacist's function fully in self-medication people, three aspects should be considered, including pharmacists, pharmacy and public: 1. suggestions aim at the pharmacist:①Expands professional pharmacist's troop, promotes pharmacist reasonable distribution;②Perfects pharmacist system, lays down pharmacist law;③Improves pharmacist's quality, enhances continuing education;④Consummates the supervising and managing mechanism, exerts the function of pharmacist association2. suggestions aim at the pharmacy:①Strengthens training for the pharmacy operator (principal);②Distributes and sets up pharmacy reasonably;③Obtains support from the pharmacy shop employees and the correlative people3. suggestions aim at the public:①Strengthen the health education, transform public healthy conception;②Intensify propaganda, enhance the public knowing rate of pharmacists.
