Objective:To evaluate the effects of the use of electronic fetal monitoring on cesarean section rate and perinatal outcomes for low-risk intrapartum women.Methods:3296 women with low-risk pregnancy which were performed difference fetal monitoring methods during labor from were studied.A total of 1126 women with low-risk pregnancy assigned as monitoring groupⅠ,were performed intermittent electronic fetal monitoring during labor.A total of 842 women with low-risk pregnancy assigned as monitoring groupⅡ,were performed continuous electronic fetal monitoring during labor.A total of 1328 women with low-risk pregnancy assigned as control group, were monitored by using intermittent auscultation during labor. The rates of fetal distress, cesarean section, neonatal asphyxia, neonatal disease and perinatal mortality in 3 group were compared. Results:Patients in the monitoring groupⅠandⅡhad a significantly higher fetal distress rates(11.54%,12.11%) and cesarean section rates(26.73%,25.42%) than that of the control group(2.86%,12.56%),P<0.05. There were no significant differences in the rates of fetal distress, cesarean section, neonatal asphyxia, neonatal disease and perinatal mortality between 3 groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:Compared with intermittent auscultation, the use of intermittent electronic fetal monitoring or continuous electronic fetal monitoring on low-risk intrapartum patients didn't improve the perinatal outcomes, but increased the rate of cesarean section. There was no significant difference between the use of intermittent electronic fetal monitoring and continuous electronic fetal monitoring on low-risk intrapartum patients.
