Background and objective:Amblyopia is the most common cause of visual impairment in childhood,it including strabismic amblyopia,ametropic Amblyopia and anisometropic amblyopia,among them ametropic amblyopia is a common kind.the factor that impair the visual aquity in childhood including uncorrected myopia,hyperopia and astigmatism,and some higher order aberratration including coma and spherical aberration may also includ,because wavefrot aberratons may reduce the quality of image in the eye.This research mainly about the The Characteristics of High Order Wavefront Aberrations of ametropic amblyopia in childhood,and analysis and the portability of cure amblyopia by correct high order aberrations.Methods:83 children with refractive amblyopia were involved.After using 1% atropine ointment once a day for three days,optometry was determined by retinoscopy optometry and coumuter optometry,then the wavefront aberrations were determined by the Allegretto wave front analyzer(based on the Tscheming principle).3 groups were included based on visual aquity,group 1 with severe visual impaired (≤0.1),group 2 with moderate impared(0.2~0.5) and group 3 with mild impaired (0.6~0.8),in every groups,the refractive status was concerned。observations including(1) the dispersion of all kinds of higher order aberrations,(2) the relationship between spherical equivalent refraction and aberrations.(3) the effect of prism diopter on aberrations.All statistical testing was done with SPSS version 12.0 (SPSS Inc.) A probability<5%(P<0.05) was considered statistically significant,single factor analysis Chi-square test and analysis of variance was used based on the type of data.Results:in myopia groups,the differences of 3rd-order aberrations between every two groups among group1,2 and 3 were not statistically significant(p>0.05),so there was no relation between myopia and coma.The differences of 4th to 6th higher-order aberrations between group 1 and 2,group 1 and 3 were statistically significant(p<0.05).The differnts of high aberrations between lower and higher myopia groups were statistically significant(p<0.05).in hyperopia group,the RMS of 3rdto 6th higher order aberrations in group3 was lower than group 2 and group 3,and the difference were statistically significant(p<0.05),in astigmatism group,the RMS of 3rd and 5th higher order aberrations in group 1 and group 2 were both lower than group 1 and the and the difference were statistically significant(p<0.05).although the RMS in mild amblyopia was lower than mordrate amblyopia,the difference among different level amblyopia was no statistically significant.Conclusions:wavefront aberrations have been study in human optical system.our study found the higher order aberrations increase with the increasing of prism diopter in myopia and hyperopia,higher order aberrations have influence on amblyopia.As the dioptric power of astigmatism increased,the trefoil astigmatism,coma and spherical were also increased,and the more blured vision in retina,the more possibility of the amblyopia happens.the degree of amblyopia have a close association with lower order aberration and the the degree of anisometropia.the effect of higher order aberration on amblyopia need more research.wavefront aberration has an extensive prospects in ocular clinical,visual science and optormetry.
