[Objective]:To observe the clinical therapeutic efficacy of Electro-Acupuncture accompanied TDP in the treatment of Osteoarthritis of the Knee.[Method]: A total of 73 cases of Osteoarthritis of the Knee were studied. All of the patients were treated by Electro-Acupuncture accompanied TDP once a day for a maximum of 3 weeks. Acupoints punctured were: Ashi point, Dubi (ST35), Yinlingquan (SP9), Yanglingquan (GB34), Zusanli (ST36), Heding (EX-LE2), Taixi (KI3). Data collected in the study included: Number of sessions required to achieve total recovery, Effectiveness of symptomatic relief and adverse side-effects. The McGill Pain Questionnaire was used for pain measurement.[Result]: Among the 73 cases, 40 cases were clinically recovered, the total efficacy rate was 93.15% and 13-14 treatments were required. The assessment by McGill showed obvious differences on the scores of PRI, VAS and PPI (P< 0.01-0.05) between before and after treatments. No adverse side effects were found in the study.[Conclusion]: Electro-Acupuncture accompanied TDP is an effective intervention in Osteoarthritis of the Knee; it can relieve pain and speed up recovery.
