Objective To study the profile of cytokeratin7 (CK7)and cytokeratin20 (CK20)expression in ACTH-secreting pituitary adenomas and their relationship with the clinical features. Methods The expression of CK7 and CK20 was detected in 28 patients with ACTH-secreting pituitary adenomas by immunohistochemical SP method. Results Fourteen cases were positive for CK7 and have no relationship with the patients'gender, the volume of the tumor and Cushing syndrome. But between the invasive pituitary adenomas and Noninvasive adenomas , CK7 expression had significant differences(P<0.05). And 16 cases were positive for CK20 and have no relationship with the clinical features above. And the expression of CK7 of ACTH-secreting adenoma have no significant differences with CK20. Conclusion The ACTH-secreting adenoma had the expression of CK7 and CK20. CK7 expression in ACTH-secreting pituitary adenoma can be a standard of invasive behavior. The CK profile could be useful for identifying the invasive or Noninvasive pituitary adenomas and in other aspects.
