The Aesthetics Thoughts On Contemporary Medical Practice

The traditional biomedical model is based on human being's biological character, aiming to meet people's physiological needs and maintain living status. It is the very basic goal of medicine. While the bio-psycho-social-humanistic medical model, based on biomedical model, aims to meet people's comprehensive needs including biological, psychological and society adaptive aspects. It targets to satisfy human being's needs to improve heath and beauty, improve quality of life, experience emotional pleasant, spiritual freedom, harmonious living status, and to meet the consolidation of health and beauty. This is not only the highest goal of medicine but also the fundamental requirement for scientific development concept which is to improve the development of economical society and humane being as it is a people-centered comprehensive sustainable development view. The objectivity of highest goal of medicine strongly appeals aesthetics to be involved in the field of medicine. Therefore aesthetics could apply to medical practice with humanistic care and theoretical guidance. In accordance with this appeal, there has been great number of researchers involved in the studies of medical aesthetics in mainland China since 1980s. The updated information was retrieved via the abundant resources such as library and internet and this thesis sorted the findings into several sections. Undoubtedly, the accomplishment from the antecedent researchers is fruitful, but there are still some problems existing. The thesis critical reviewed the former research results and re-recognized the basic concepts and developed the theoretical framework of medical aesthetics tailored to contemporary medical practice. There are six parts in this thesis including introduction, conclusion and another four chapters. Chaperâ… is about medical beauty and medical aesthetics. In combination with antecedent views, it illustrated the definitions of medical beauty and aesthetic feeling in medicine, and the relationship between medicine and aesthetics, medical aesthetics and medicine, aesthetics. It also depicted the attribute of the subject, medical aesthetics, and its theoretical and social foundation. In this chaper, traditional Chinese medical aesthetics theories were also thoroughly reviewed. Chapterâ…¡discoursed upon attributes and configuration of medical beauty which in essence is within the scope of aesthetics value. It demonstrates as theoretical beauty of medical practice, technical beauty of medical practice, procedural beauty of medical practice and achievement beauty of medical practice. Chaperâ…¢discussed the theoretical resource of medical aesthetics. It analyzed the theoretical absence of current medical aesthetics researches, recommended theoretical resources for constructing theoretical framework of medical aesthetics. It is recognized that theory of life aesthetics, ecological aesthetics and psychological aesthetics should be introduced into the research of medical aesthetics. Chapterâ…£is concerning the clinical application of medical aesthetic. It depicted that there are two levels regarding application of medical aesthetics into medical practice, namely humanistic and technical level. In terms of technical application, it means not only the guidance to clinical technological subjects, but also the guidance from macroscopical depth and width view.
