Research About Neutron Dose Estimate Method

The method for neutron dose monitoring, neutron dose estimation and neutron radiation protection were studied in this paper. The neutron dose estimation contains that in radiation accident, medical exposure and occupational exposure. Based on the method of neutron dosimetry and by means of the programming language of MS Visual Basic 6.0, a computer program of neutron dose estimation in external radiation was developed for radiation protection and operation. Meanwhile, a database based on MS Visual Basic 6.0 and MS ACCESS is established and the fluence to dose conversion coefficients are stored in the database.The computer program of neutron dose estimation can be used for external radiation protection and operation. It has four main functions. First, it can be used for neutron organ equivalent dose and neutron effective dose estimation. When neutron irradiates in AP mode or PA mode or LAT mode or ROT mode or ISO mode, the computer program can be used for neutron organ equivalent dose and neutron effective dose estimation. Meanwhile it can do simple add operation of neutron dose for three types of neutrons. Second, it can be used for neutron personal dose equivalent and neutron ambient dose equivalent estimation. Meanwhile it can do simple add operation of neutron dose for six types of neutrons. Third, it can be used for neutron organic absorbed dose and whole body average absorbed dose. When neutron irradiates in AP mode or PA mode or LAT mode or ROT mode or ISO mode, neutron organic absorbed dose and whole body average absorbed dose can be estimated. It can also perform simple addition of neutron dose for three types of neutrons. Fourth, the fluence to dose conversion coefficients in the database can be inquired and perfected.First of all, investigation of neutron dose was introduced in this paper. Then some routine used neutron dose estimation methods will be presented. The main mode and parameters of neutron dose estimation are based on the reports of ICRP and ICRU. Lastly, some typical applied examples about neutron dose estimation were explained in this paper.
