The essence of medicine is to respect and care for people and cherish their life and health.Medicine is a cross-disciplinary subject of science and humanities.It is not only a science requiring scientific and technological progress,but also a subject about human needing humanistic nourishment.Medical science seeks truth while medical humanity seeks goodness,both of which are indispensable.Therefore,medical education in itself should include humanistic quality education,without which,it is incomplete in a sense,or it can be called "half-human" education.And the "half-human" education model has long triggered off such modern medical trends of over-commercialization and technology transformation as aphasia between doctors and their patients,machine-centered medical procedure,doctors treating diseases without the sight of patients and low-level medical ethics.Thus,to add and enhance humanistic quality education in medical education can restore the true colors of medical education on the one hand.And on the other hand,it can also solve the above-mentioned problems.The medical and humanistic quality education aims to urge medical colleges to take effective measures to carry out humanistic education,helping medical students learn how to do things,how to survive and how to behave so as to train them to be qualified medical workers with both kind heart and nice skill.This paper consists of four parts:The first part is the introduction part,in which we introduce the motivation for the study,the research purpose and significance of the study,review the present status of researches both at home and abroad and summarize the idea of the research as well as the research methodology.Besides,we make a definition of the core concepts related to this paper,with relevant issues explained and clarified.So this part has established a clear discourse bounds and laid a theoretical foundation for this paper.In part two,we make an analysis of the urgency and necessity of enhancing humanistic education among medical students in medical colleges.The analysis and demonstration are mainly made from the following perspectives:the humanistic nature of medicine,humanistic orientation for medical development,humanistic objectives of training medical personnel and the practical requirements for humanistic spirit coming from the society and medical field.This paper holds that medical colleges must enhance humanistic education whether by implication from the medicine itself,the requirements for the integration of science and humanities,or by the necessary humanistic quality among medical students as well as the humanistic elements in this particular medical cause.In medical education,education of humanity is not only inevitable but also urgent.In part three,we present the status quo of humanistic education among medical students in medical colleges,further explore its reasons,examine the humanistic quality of students in medical colleges as well as the education status in quo and analyze the factors that may constrain the humanistic quality education in medical colleges in an attempt to provide ideas for setting down countermeasures for the development of humanistic quality education in medical colleges.Although China's medical colleges began to carry out comprehensive humanistic quality education more than a decade ago and have achieved some successes,yet the results are unsatisfactory on the whole.The main reasons mainly include:1) wrong concept and knowledge;2) vague concept of humanistic quality education;3) school conditions of humanistic education to be improved;4) negative impact of social unhealthy vogue;5) constraints by the characteristics of humanistic quality education etc.The last part is about our reflection of enhancing the humanistic quality education in medical colleges,which is the focus of this paper.In combination with the characteristics of medicine and humanistic quality,we propose solutions from educational philosophy,educational model and educational measures respectively.We maintain that the keys for medical colleges to enhance humanistic quality education lie in three aspects:1) On the philosophy of education,the medical colleges should pay much attention to the integration of medical scientific spirit and humanistic spirit;2) In the mode of education,they should build an overall medical and humanistic quality education;3) In terms of education measures,they need to build a "three-dimensional" education system for medical and humanistic quality education.
