Objective To explore the radioprotective effect of Crataegus on Mouse by intraperitoneally injection.Methods 60 mice were randomly divided into five groups:normal control,irradiation, irradiation+high dosage,irradiation+middle dosage,irradiation +low dosage.The last three groups were injected intraperitoneally with Crataegus extract 1 hour before they were irradiated by 60Co.The others were given physiological brine.The body weight and Peripheral blood routine were measured at 4h before irradiation and 6,12 days after irradiation.DNA content and quantity of nucleocyte in bone marrow were observed at 12 days after irradiation.Results 1)After injection 8 mice died of infecton and hemorrhage in high dose group,and a the others survived.2) The weight of mice in irradiation+medicine groups have no statistic difference with that of the irradiation group during the whole test.3) In term of the WBC,PLT counts in peripheral blood,the irradiation+medicine groups have statistic difference with the irradiation group onthe 12th day after irradiation.The WBC count was[0.47±0.15],[ 1.73±0.4],[2.38±1.3,P<0.05],[2.35±1.3,P<0.05]in irradiation,high dosage,middle dosage and low dosage groups respectively on the 12th day after irradiation.The PLT count was [309±137],[681±212,P<0.05],[612±243,P<0.05],[660±218,P<0.05]in irradiation,high dosage,middle dosage and low dosage groups respectively on the 12th day after irradiation.(4) In term of the DNA content,the quantity of nucleocyte counts,,the irradiation+medicine groups have statistic difference with the irradiation group on the 12th day after irradiation.The DNA content was[1500±580],[2720±400,P<0.01],[2340±660,P<0.01],[2300±580,P<0.01]in irradiation,high dosage,middle dosage and low dosage groups respectively on the 12th day after irradiation.The quantity ofnucleocyte was[37±8],[70±10,P<0.01],[65±21,P<0.01],[59±21,P<0.01]in irradiation,high dosage,middle dosage and low dosage groups respectively on the 12th day after irradiation.Conclusions 1) The concentrations of Crataegus extract can not promote the recovery of weight of the radiation injury mice.2) The concentrations of Crataegus extract can protect the WBC and the PLT in peripheral blood of the radiation injury mice.3) The concentrations of Crataegus extract can protect the DNA and the nucleocyte of the radiation injury mice.
